One of the things Kianna does is love animals and she's volunteered with Dakota Dachshund Rescue.

UPDATE! 1:45 Just got off the phone with VMC Surgery....Fred is out of surgery❤️
Had a little trouble with anesthesia this time but doing well now.
Did a partial amputation and reconstruction, neuter went well, waking up nicely.
Surgeon will call me later.
He is spending the night in the hospital!

It's Fred's big surgery day at Veterinary Medical Center at UMN!
Prayer warriors🙏🙏 please keep little Fred and his surgical team in your prayers!
Fred goes to surgery at 10:00 a.m., plan is to do a partial appendage amputation and sew the remaining into his little sheath and then neuter him as well since he will already be under anesthesia. Once they get started they will decide if the need is actually a full amputation.
Full recovery is guestimated to be two weeks so our plan is to keep Fred with our short term foster, who is a vet tech at VMC cardiology.

🎉 Ready, Set, Lola! 🎉

Looking to add a little extra sunshine, zoomies, and laughter to your life? Meet Lola, an almost 3-year-old dachshund whose happiness level can only be described as “tail-powered rocket ship!” 🚀🐾

Lola loves living life at full speed. You’ll often find her racing around the fenced yard with her foster siblings, organizing toy chaos, and making sure everyone is having as much fun as she is. After a busy day of adventures, she’s happy to clock out and claim her favorite spot on the recliner next to foster mom for some well-earned cuddle time.

This sweet girl is potty trained and crate trained. She’s still learning that leashes aren’t strange spaghetti attached to humans, but she’s making progress every day. Lola was recently spayed on May 29 and is now ready to start accepting applications for her forever family!

Lola would do best in a home with at least one other dog to be her partner in zoomies, wrestling matches, and neighborhood squirrel surveillance. A fenced yard is a must for this active girl who loves to stretch those dachshund legs.

If your home is missing a joyful little sidekick with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Lola may be the perfect fit. ❤️🐶

✨ Meet Merida ✨

This sweet curly-haired girl is learning that the world is not such a scary place after all. 🐩💕 Merida can be a little nervous at first, but every day she grows a bit braver and more confident with her foster Mom. Underneath her shy personality is a gentle soul who really wants love, comfort, and a family of her own.

Merida enjoys quiet companionship, soft beds, and following the lead of the other dogs around her. Having another friendly dog in the home would help continue building her confidence as she learns how wonderful being a spoiled house pup can be.

A fenced yard is required for this timid little princess so she can safely explore at her own pace and continue gaining confidence outdoors.

Watching Merida come out of her shell has been such a rewarding journey, and now she’s ready to find the patient, loving home she deserves. 💖

🎶 “It’s me again, Margaret…” 🎶

And this time, it’s the adorable dachshund version. 💖

Meet 7 year old Margaret, the sweet little lady who inspired her foster mom to break into the classic It’s Me Again, Margaret on a regular basis. Margaret fully supports these concerts and may or may not be accepting song requests soon. 🎤🐾

Margaret arrived a bit timid, but every single day she’s blossoming more and more. She’s discovering that cozy beds, gentle pets, and hanging out with dog friends are actually pretty wonderful inventions. She absolutely loves the other dogs and would do best with a confident canine buddy in her forever home. 🐶💕

She’s working hard on potty training and secretly dreams of becoming a full-time professional cuddle bug. Right now she’s just a little shy about submitting her application. Give her patience, love, and a comfy blanket, and she’ll get there. ✨

✨ Meet Eileen ✨

At 7 years old, Eileen is learning that the world might not be such a scary place after all. This sweet little dachshund came to DDR very frightened, but day by day she’s taking tiny brave steps toward trusting her foster mom and discovering the good life. 🐾

Eileen is still very shy, but she’s getting more comfortable being picked up, hanging close to her people, and watching the other dogs show her how fun life can be. She absolutely dreams of being part of the pack… she just needs a patient family willing to let her bloom at her own speed. 🌸

A confident, social dog in the home will be a huge help for Eileen as she learns the ropes. She kennels well, is making progress on potty training, and quietly cheers on the other pups like a tiny dachshund fan club president. 📣🐶

Eileen will require:

She Wasn’t Found! The Search for the Queen of Hearts continues

Help the dachshunds of Dakota Dachshund Rescue continue the hunt for their missing Queen of Hearts! For 30 weeks, these determined pups have been searching for their queen, and the jackpot for finding her is now more than $43,000. She is still hiding in one of just 24 remaining envelopes, and they need your help to sniff her out.
Buy a ticket for your chance to open an envelope and find the Queen of Hearts. The next drawing is Tuesday, June 2, at Remedy Brewing Company in Sioux Falls. Tickets are $5 each, or you can save with bundle pricing: 5 tickets for $20, 15 tickets for $50, or 35 tickets for $100. One ticket will be drawn at 7:11 p.m., and if the Queen of Hearts is found in the selected envelope, the winner will split the jackpot with Dakota Dachshund Rescue. You do not need to be present to win, but you must have a ticket to be eligible.
