🐾 Happy Hairless Dog Day! 🐾

Did you know there are only four internationally recognized hairless dog breeds in the world?

✨ Xoloitzcuintli (Mexican Hairless)
✨ Chinese Crested
✨ Peruvian Inca Orchid
✨ American Hairless Terrier

While these breeds may not have much fur, they certainly don’t lack personality! From the ancient Xoloitzcuintli, which has been a beloved companion for thousands of years, to the energetic American Hairless Terrier, each breed has its own unique history and charm.

Hairless dogs are often mistaken as being “low maintenance,” but their skin requires special care. Because they lack a protective coat, they can be more prone to sunburn, dry skin, and temperature sensitivity. Regular skin care and protection from the elements help keep these unique pups healthy and comfortable.

There are also several rare regional hairless breeds found throughout the world, making these dogs some of the most fascinating and distinctive canine companions around.

🌈🐾 Pet Memorial Day 🐾🌈

Today, we remember the beloved pets who have touched our lives and left lasting paw prints on our hearts. The bond we share with our animals is unlike any other. They are there for life's biggest milestones and quietest moments, offering unconditional love, comfort, loyalty, and companionship every step of the way.

Losing a pet is one of the most difficult experiences many of us will ever face. They are never "just pets." They are family members, best friends, adventure buddies, and cherished companions. The grief we feel after their loss is a reflection of the deep love we shared.

For many families, one of the hardest acts of love is saying goodbye. The word euthanasia means "good death," and while no goodbye ever feels good, it reflects a compassionate choice made to prevent suffering when our pets can no longer enjoy the things they once loved.

These decisions are never made lightly. They come from a place of deep love, putting our pets' comfort above our own heartbreak. In their final moments, we give them one last gift—the gift of peace. Though they may be gone from our sight, the love, memories, and paw prints they leave behind remain with us forever.

Today, we invite you to share a photo or memory of a pet who is no longer with us. Tell us about them, what made them special, or simply share their name. We would be honored to celebrate their life with you and help keep their memory alive.

As flowers bloom, so do risks for our pets, with plenty of opportunity for them to breathe in particles, scratch an eye, poke a paw, or even get snagged by a branch or thorn, all of which could potentially lead to infections.

Infections can be sneaky subtle—If your pet is not acting right and you are not sure what it is, get them checked! Like with most conditions, the sooner we treat an infection, the better your pet will feel.

🐾 Last but not least, today we are celebrating Dr. Bruce-Wattier and Dr. Ephlin! ❤️🐾

When talking with Dr. Bruce-Wattier, she shared that she has been with All City for about a year. She loves working with people and their animals and especially enjoys the challenge of emergent cases that come into our clinic.

Fun Facts about Dr. Bruce-Wattier:
• She loves biking with her husband
• She has a 3-legged cat named Peg
• She is a classically trained pianist

When talking with Dr. Ephlin, she shared that she started her career as a mixed animal veterinarian, practicing on animals large and small—from horses and cows to cats and dogs, plus a few other species in between!

Fun Facts about Dr. Ephlin:
• Started her career as a mixed animal veterinarian
• She and her husband have 8 pets
• She enjoys art, reading, and traveling

We are so grateful for everything Dr. Bruce-Wattier and Dr. Ephlin do for our patients, clients, and staff every single day! ❤️🐾
