The biggest opportunities in life rarely come without a little fear.

Whether it’s stepping into the saddle for the first time, entering the show ring, chasing a championship, or simply believing you’re capable of more, growth begins when you’re willing to take that chance.

The nerves might never completely disappear, but neither will the possibilities waiting on the other side.

Be brave enough to find out. ❤️

Our Rugged Cross Stables team is growing, and we’re excited to introduce our newest riding instructor, Alissa Melville!

Alissa’s love for horses began at age 11, and she brings a well-rounded equestrian background to our lesson program. She holds a C1 certification through the United States Pony Club and has experience competing in eventing, hunter seat equitation, and western pleasure.

A graduate of Northern Illinois University, Alissa served as president of the university’s Equestrian Team while earning her degree in Child Development.

Recently relocating to Sioux Falls to join a mission team, Alissa is looking forward to combining her passion for horses with her love of working with children, helping our beginner riders develop confidence, horsemanship skills, and a strong foundation in the saddle.

We’re so happy to have Alissa as part of the Rugged Cross family! Be sure to give her a warm welcome when you see her around the barn! ❤️

Just Chance popping in to say hello! 👀❤️

Our sweet orphan boy is growing like a w**d, full of personality, and apparently convinced he needs to supervise everything happening around the barn.

With his striking good looks, undeniable presence, and an impressive list of wins to his name, Hoss has so much to offer his next partner!

Successfully shown in western pleasure, side saddle, and showmanship, Hoss has proven his versatility in the show ring.

Hoss has been a special part of our barn, and while we will be incredibly sad to see him go, his owner is ready for him to begin his next chapter. Our hope is to find someone who will appreciate everything this handsome gelding has to offer and continue building on his accomplishments.

We would especially love to see Hoss remain in the Rugged Cross show program! Special show training incentives are available to his new owner if he stays with RCS.

Monday was filled with horses, crafts, games, laughter, and plenty of good old-fashioned farm fun at Fall Barn Day!

We love getting to share a little piece of life at Rugged Cross with these kiddos, from making new friends to trying new things and getting their hands a little dirty.

One week until Cash heads to Tulsa! 🌹🏆

ALADA HALOS RCS will be headed south to compete at the U.S. Arabian & Half-Arabian National Championship Horse Show!

Cash may be our one and only contender this year, but this trip is a pretty big milestone for Rugged Cross Stables. He will be the first RCS-bred and raised horse to step into the show ring at US Nationals!

There is something pretty incredible about watching a horse go from a foal in your pasture to competing on one of the biggest stages in our industry.

One horse. A whole lot of heart. And a pretty special story behind him.

Tulsa, here we come! ❤️

Such a fun day at the first ever Sioux Falls Area Academy Horse Show!

We loved getting to cheer on our Rugged Cross students and come together with other lesson programs in the area. It was so special to collaborate, support one another, and make a great day for our riders!

Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen. Here’s to more days like this! 🐴✨

We’re excited to see our Rugged Cross students take part in the first annual Sioux Falls Area Academy Horse Show tomorrow!

This is a great opportunity for our lesson students to get out there, and share what they’ve been working on.

This show is a collaborative effort between the academy lesson programs in our area, bringing our arabian horse community together to celebrate our students and the sport we all love. We’re excited to be part of it!

The show starts at 9:00 AM tomorrow, October 10th, at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in Lennox.

While this is a private academy show, spectators are welcome! Bring your family, come support our riders, and help us make it a fun day for everyone.
