2nd Chance Ranch (rescue)

2nd Chance Ranch (rescue) Helping animals in need that need a 2nd chance. We also take donations for us of any kind. Please contact us on here for more info on were to send our donations.

For other Shelters look in the PRODUCTS Info 4 their info. We try to help all animals but mostly try to help the lesser desired pets, like rats, spiders, lizard, an do take in, rabbits, birds and snakes also. we try to not take in cats, dogs, farm animals as our place is small but that dont mean we wont try to help find a place to help take them in. We believe that every pet deserves a 2nd chance

weather it be old or not wanted anymore, abandon or abused. we as people deserve 2nd chances and get them why not the animals as well.We are a non profit recuse for basically the smaller animals like rodents, rabbits, ferrets, birds, reptiles and insects. mostly we try to help the less desired pets. We are here for ASAP pets that need someone now not later. As in to old to go to a regular shelter or there is no room and you would have to wait, we will take them. This could mean that when room opens they go to a regular shelter. and if they are special needs pets they will stay here or a pet that is in need of some working with. Like behavior. We prefer larger pets to go to the shelters as that is what they are there for. We mainly are here to help with the ones to OLD to go to a shelter as in they would not be comfy there like to much stress, not used to a lot of other pets around. that sorta thing. And smaller rodent type pets. Not that some shelters and spca's are not set up for them or dont know how to care for them but we have had lots of experiences with rodent type pets and other smaller critters.

Trying to find a home VERY SOON for 1 Rooster and some hens. 2/3 years old FREE to a GOOD HOME! They still lay and are intending for pets. My Aunt Bonnie can not care for them like she used to due to a bad hip. She will be getting surgery on it but even after she just can not keep up with them like she used to. I have enough in my coops I can not take in anymore. If you are interested please get ahold of her. She would like to have them in a home before Thanksgiving. If not sooner. (1-814-546-2492) or (1-814-577-5121) you can also get ahold of her on FB Bonnie Maxson. https://www.facebook.com/bonnie.maxson.5

In 2019 we had a house fire leaving us with nothing. We have been gone a LONG while. Now we have a new place but sadly with my health I can not do all that I used to. I still want to help rescues as much as I can and do. SO we are back in business but in different ways. We DO NOT TAKE IN rescues like we did. We have a few now along with our pets and my service dog that helps me. That is all I can handle. I take in an take on only what I can. I will how ever HELP you try and find homes for your rescues that need help if you are a rescue group or a self rescue person. I also help train (when I can with my health) all types of pets with problems SO that they CAN find homes. This is from dogs, cats, to small rodents from foul an much more. OR give you the advice if you are TO far away to help you work with them so that they can find a home. WE MUST all work together to help them. If you have a pet that need help in some way message me. If you they are looking for a new home message me info an pictures or post on here an we will help spread the word. Yes we still take donations of any kind (not cages we DONT NEED THEM, but treats and feed for the farm yes. as there are still some rescue around. If you would like to know what we need just ask or message. AS I said before we don't take in like we used to and the ones we do have to be very special needs and something my health can deal with. Thank you.

Its been a LONG while but we are still not back on our feet. It could take us a LONG LONG time to ever do so again. BUT that dose not mean we have stopped helping animals. We CAN NOT take in a rescue still BUT we can help share to get it a home/foster care till it's found a home or make contacts to people who could help more then us right now. ALL I can do right now is my Animal behavior help/training, which can also be hard with the virus still going on. I can offer info on a pet or what to feed them, health information (I am not a VET but can give you a little help till they are seen by one) that is about ALL we can do here at the ranch right now.
If you want to join me further take a look at my Youtube Channel
Diamond Peno. It shares the ranch and tips and things on there as well as other things not critter related at times. Its just starting but will have things on there about me, art, animals and maybe more and one day the rescue.
Right now I am trying to train my new service dog and battle my own health problems and find a place we can call our own. THEY get that all put together and figured out before we can open the doors to rescues. THERE is a LOT that goes into a rescue even to take in one little ol mouse there is a LOT to think about and you need before you open your doors. ALL our medical supplies for our pets were lost extra tanks, cages and toys/feed/water dishes or bottles. All that we made sure to have for clean out time or sick bay tanks/cages. Even them little plastic travel things for them I used to take them to and from the vet (for the smaller ones) bigger ones we used a smaller cage or small critter carrier. SO yes lots to get stalked back up but a house and turning it into a home and figuring that all out has to come 1st. BUT as I said I can still help in other ways.

Meet our 2nd newest rescue. This is a little eastern painted turtle. From what we gathered it's a she. She was a rescue to start with but former owner don't have the time to give her or keep up with her tank like she use to. I think she is about 7 to 10. Hubby got her from some on that comes in to his work as he is a cook and he got to gabbing and found out the lady was looking for her new home. Her name was Tuck BUT I have a Turkey we call Tucky or Tuck Tuck. SO we have chose to names an are thinking of putting her up at the bait shop to also hold the contest there. I Will post later to see IF I can an when and then post the 2 names and hold the contest to see what her new name is. Even though she ate her 1st night here and is settled in well like she has been here forever I want to work with her some more. Maybe wait till the big fishing season rush is over. Just letting her settle in now.

Meet our Newest Rescue of the year. Goldshire. Hubby brought him home from work. His boss brought him to work as he knew some people who had him and they wanted him to go to a friendly home. SO I get dinner and a bird. lol. He was just not getting along with the others as what we were told or not all an did not need all the roosters they kept. He is a good fellow and quite protective BUT is a push over. Luckly MY roster even though will put him through his passes WILL not kill him or hurt him like the others I take it were or would have. He is lovable and loves cuddles too. He is such a sweet boy an so handsome.

Last year my mom found 2 baby snapping turtles in her minnows when they came into the bait shop. the 1st one came end of may 2nd one cant middle of October. The minnows are gotten FROM out west BUT were they came from or pin pointed at as around the minnow ponds THERE are no turtles they way they are kept. SO returning them was not optional AND even though they are common and native to here they are not FROM here and could not be set free here. SO I took them in. In the state of PA you can own then with out a permit FOR YOUR OWN PERSONAL use as in food/pet. you can have up to 30 but have to have PA fishing licence. BUT to buy/sell/trade them or harvest meat to sell you have to have a snapping turtle licence. SINCE these guys are pets/animal education I don't need the turtle one. BUT I am not their owner persay. I am their caretaker/handler. my parents own them. like at a Zoo you have the owner and then the person (me who cares for them) SO meet Steve and Irwin.
NOTE: Snappers DO not make good pets they are NOT the ideal turtle pet either lol. SOME like me and croc hunter may think so lol BUT we love and respect them an the wildlife and dont think of them as pets but our friends/mentors/teachers. PLEASE don't take animals FROM the wild an be like but its cool she has them and the zoos... well let me tell you some of the strange pets or wild ones I have get set free if they are not to sick an heal up an can be set free. NOT all zoos an parks and things are good places lots of them don't care about the benefit of the animals just the money they can make them. Other zoos like Irwins Zoo's The Zoo That April the Giraffe is at THEY care about the animals THEY would LOVE NOT to have to have a zoo to have to protect some of these animals but its all for conservation and to protect the animals that are almost gone and ones that could be next. SO as cool as it sounds to OWN a tiger or lion... trust me I would have one BUT thats a LOT of work/time/money an they are a wild animal they can hurt you or kill you. YES my dog could do the same BUT he/she is an animal (more domesticated an safe) BUT not to blame the tiger or lion are doing what they do naturally. YES its cool some of my wild friends come back to say hi and thanks BUT some don't they come back but not ever really as close as they once were AND that is could and how it should be. That makes me happy to see something free rather then not.

The little hurt rescue sparrow did not make it. She was eating and drinking that night. By morning she took a turn for the worse. We think there was more wrong with her. Bandage was NOT tight as it looks she could move around and even move the hurt wing but would not really. we think she could have had other injuries that we could not see or just the stress of everything. We tried all that we could though for her. At least she new comfort in her last hrs. We named her Cage.

Another rescue sparrow
young one by the looks of it. female bye the looks as well. she was found hung up in our bunny pen cage which is weird as they can fly in and out of them. but her wing is torn has a large gash but our bunnies have never harmed them before nore do i think it was from them but from something else. I think she got stuck in the pens going to them for safety. we seen her thrashing around and she has been doing that in here displaying same nero damage as Penny but not as bad. We hope she can heal up an will be able to return to the wild. but wing looks pretty damaged from top. We are thinking of calling her Thrasher or Cage.
