🐶 These two adorable dogs are the bestest of friends… yes, Honey is an 8-lb Chug and Toby is an 80-lb Doberman. Recently Toby had to have his 2nd TPLO surgery on his knee and is on strict crate rest except for leashed potty breaks and a little basking in the sun. 🌞 Honey has been visiting Toby’s crate a few times a day to give him encouragement with play stances. She also howls along with him when he thinks I’ve gone somewhere. Today, while laying in the sun, Honey was hoping for some play time but also respected the fact that Toby still has limitations. ❤️ Love these two so much and hope to get better pics of their sweet relationship. Thank you River Oak Vet and Dr. Adley for going above and beyond for my old man Toby. 🥰 He loves you all!

Many don’t know this information! Remember every second matters during a choking incident.
1. Place the dog on their back. Brace the back against the floor. Straddle the dog while adjusting yourself based on the size of the dog. Position the head in “in-line position” with the airway parallel to the floor.
2. Make an open diamond shape with your hands. Place your thumbs on either side of the trachea below the ball or object. Grip the “V” of the jaw using lip/cheek to protect fingers.
3. Push with a J-stroke down and out against the ball until it ejects from the mouth.
Both this method and the Heimlich method has been proven to work in these scenarios so don’t hesitate to save your dog.

• Pets may stay with owners at the shelter
• Owners must remain onsite with their pets
• Bring your pet’s food and medications
• Crates and basic supplies are provided
