Happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸

Today we honor the hardworking people who keep our communities moving — including every volunteer, foster, transporter, and supporter who helps us fight for the animals of our parish. Your dedication, compassion, and willingness to show up (even on the tough days) make our mission possible.

Sweet Willow needs to be rehomed through no fault of her own. She’s an 8 year old, spayed Rottweiler who is wonderful with people and other animals.

We are currently in search of an immediate foster and Rottweiler rescue partner who may be able to assist us in finding her the safe, loving home she deserves.

Penny is an 8 year old beagle who came to us after a call from someone in Plaucheville, LA. She was found under a vehicle, and the caller feared she had been run over because her back legs weren’t working. He brought her straight to the vet for us.

It turns out Penny wasn’t run over. She has bone spurs along her spine, causing her back legs to give out and making her fall onto her butt — more than likely from spending long periods in a beagle box.

She is heartworm positive, but doing well. And despite everything she’s been through, Penny is incredibly sweet, loves to play, and tries her best…even though she tumbles over so often.

She is a beautiful old girl who deserves comfort, stability, and a pain‑free life. We’re now looking into what surgical options may exist to help her back and improve her mobility.

We have beautiful young cats available for adoption. Inside only homes. Fully vetted

Back in March, we introduced Luna and her kittens — the Breakfast Club. These sweet souls have come a long way, and we’re excited to share that they are officially ready for their forever homes.

Their journey hasn’t been easy, but they’ve grown into healthy, confident, affectionate cats who are more than ready to start their next chapter with families who will love them as much as we do.

🏡 ADOPTION DETAILS:

💲Adoption Fee: $75 per cat.
🏥Health: All cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated.
📌Requirement: We do not adopt out “barn” or “outside” cats — all ARR rescues are 100% indoor pets.

Aggie and her puppies are doing so well…and goodness, they are growing fast. Their little faces, tiny paws, and wiggly personalities get cuter every single day.

But you know what’s even cuter than Aggie’s puppies?

Spay and neuter.

Because spay and neuter prevents unwanted litters, keeps pets healthier, and helps rescues like ours stay afloat so we can keep saying “yes.”

Thank you for cheering Aggie on as she still needs to be spayed and undergo heart worm treatment once she’s done nursing.

Hello and welcome to all our new followers. Thank you for joining us here!

Our mission is simple but urgent: to save the unwanted, neglected, and abandoned animals of Avoyelles Parish. Based out of Simmesport, LA - we are five women strong, volunteering our time after our regular jobs to help the animals who need us, educate the public on proper animal welfare, and provide tools and resources whenever we are able.

Facebook is our strongest avenue to reach more people and shine a light on the pet overpopulation crisis running havoc across our parish.

The truth is, we are outnumbered by the strays running everywhere. There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t see animals wandering the streets. There isn’t a day we don’t receive calls, emails, or messages from desperate folks trying to find help for an animal that showed up on their property or hurt.

We don’t have a parish animal shelter, we don’t have animal control, and we don’t have affordable spay/neuter programs for the people here. What we do have is our amazing volunteers, our generous supporters, and our rescue partners. We rely deeply on these community connections to continue creating a safe place for both humans and animals.
