🧠 Coral Care Guide – Sculpted Brain Coral 🪸
Pectinia sp.
The Sculpted Brain Coral is a striking LPS coral, prized for its intricate maze-like ridges, vibrant colours, and impressive growth form. A true showpiece in any reef aquarium, it combines bold appearance with relatively straightforward care when provided with stable water conditions.
This coral thrives under low to moderate lighting with gentle to moderate water flow. Place it on the sandbed or lower rockwork, allowing plenty of space around it, as many Pectinia species extend long sweeper tentacles after lights out to defend their territory.
Although largely photosynthetic, regular feedings of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, krill, or reef foods 1–2 times per week can encourage faster growth, richer colouration, and improved overall health.
💡 Top Tip: Give your Sculpted Brain Coral plenty of room. Its long sweeper tentacles can sting nearby corals during the night, so careful placement is essential for a peaceful reef.
