🐾 It's kitten season! During the spring and summer months, shelters and rescues see a significant increase in kittens needing care. Some may become separated from their mothers, orphaned, injured, or brought in by concerned community members.

If you find a kitten alone, don't assume they've been abandoned. Mom may be nearby and still caring for them.

Here's what to do:

🔍 Check
Observe from a distance and look for signs that Mom returns.

🏠 Keep Safe
If the kitten is sick, injured, or in immediate danger, move them somewhere warm and secure.

📞 Get Help
Contact a local rescue, shelter, or veterinarian for guidance.

💚 Support
Whether it's monitoring the situation, fostering, donating, volunteering, or helping connect a kitten with resources, your support can make a difference.

A few minutes of observation can help ensure kittens get the care they need while giving them the best chance to stay with their mother whenever possible.

Happy Friday! It’s time for another Pet of the Week 🐾

Meet Duke 💙🐶

Duke is a regular visitor here at Simi Valley Animal Hospital. He comes in each month for his Cytopoint injections to help manage his allergies, but we suspect that's only part of the reason he keeps showing up... 😉

He's also a big fan of all the attention, treats, and love he gets from our team every visit!

Duke is always a wonderful patient, and his goofy personality never fails to brighten our day. Just look at that face! 😋

A special thank you to his owner, David, for taking such great care of him and helping keep him comfortable and happy.

On Pet Memorial Day, we remember the pets who have touched our lives and left lasting paw prints on our hearts. 🐾🌈

Today, we honor Biggs and Bosco, the beloved Bull Terriers of our veterinary receptionist Danielle. These two incredible dogs brought endless love, laughter, and companionship to those around them and are greatly missed.

Their memories live on in the stories we share, the love they gave, and the lives they changed. ❤️

Happy Friday! It’s time for another Pet of the Week 🐾

Meet Rusty 🦎🧡

Rusty is a 6-month-old Crested Gecko who came in to see us after injuring his tail.

He was brought in by Caroline and her son, and our team was especially impressed by the excellent care they’ve been providing. It's always wonderful to see pet owners so knowledgeable and dedicated to proper husbandry and husbandry practices.

Rusty was a great patient during his visit and quickly won over our team with his curious personality and tiny gecko charm. 💛

We're happy to help keep this little guy healthy and thriving!

Beat the heat and keep your pet feeling their best all summer long ☀️🐾

Warmer weather means more outdoor fun, but it also increases the risk of dehydration. Pets can quickly overheat, especially during walks, playtime, or travel. Make sure your pet always has access to fresh, clean water and take breaks in the shade when temperatures rise.

Watch for signs like excessive panting, dry gums, lethargy, or loss of appetite, these can be early indicators your pet needs more hydration or a cool-down.

Simple steps like carrying a portable water bottle, refreshing water bowls often, and avoiding peak heat hours can make a big difference in keeping your pet safe.

A hydrated pet is a happy, healthy pet 💧
