When the summer days get warmer, there's nothing guys like Cypress like more than a cool puppuccino! This delish dessert and this happy doggo are brought to you this month by Liberty Bay Auto in Poulsbo! We're not sure why he's wearing the weird wig.

Oliver is a 15-year-old 🎩distinguished🧐 gentleman who showed up as a stray. He was found thin and alone on the side of a road but has perked up with some love and attention from staff and volunteers. He is a cuddler and a talker, having no problem vocalizing to everyone that he is feeling safe and happy now. He also has a zero dollar adoption fee.

Oliver is a hospice adoption. He has mild kidney disease and dental disease, which are common among senior cats, and will need extra care, love, and diet restrictions. Because of his health and distinguished-cat tenure, he will fit in best with kids 6 and up, and needs somewhere soft to spend his remaining time receiving (and giving!) love.

We love MOD Pizza in Silverdale. Not just because they support our mission and hold fundraisers in our honor, but also because they’re kind of family.

Back in March of 2024, MOD General Manager Mackenzie adopted one of our favorite dogs: an adorable little pocket pittie named Clover. This pretty girl was living in the KHS administrative offices before she was adopted and we all fell in love. Now, we couldn’t be happier that she’s found such a great home – and we’re also grateful for MOD’s support.

MEET KAGOME! 🌸🥰

Kagome is a large, 2-year-old mixed breed with the most adorable underbite you've ever seen, and she's ready to bring all her calm, cozy energy into your home!

She's a little shy at first, but she's slowly blooming and building confidence every single day. All she needs is a patient, loving home to help her get there.

Kagome is super calm and laid-back, but playful when the mood strikes. She's great with kids of all ages, gets along with female dogs, and even tolerates puppy energy like a champ. She met a cat and was completely unbothered, she's crate trained, and walks well on leash with light corrections.

She would love a home that appreciates a calm, sweet companion, gives her space to open up at her own pace, and wants a soft, loving soul by their side.

So you’d like a smart, social roommate who doesn’t take up much space? Someone kind and cuddly and really low-maintenance? We’ve got the friend for you… 🐀

Yesterday morning, Kitsap Humane Society assisted an overwhelmed community member by taking in 60 adorable and friendly female rats. Next Tuesday, the males come in; most likely a similar number of them. Our own Dr. B spent the morning making sure they were healthy and now they all need homes!

Rats are extremely intelligent: They can figure out complex puzzles, are easy to train to use the litter-box, can perform tricks and play simple video games, and demonstrate empathy. And they make great pets.

If you’d like to adopt or foster some of our new residents (we’re looking to send them out in same-sex pairs, so each have a rat buddy), please come up and meet a few. If you can’t, but would still like to help, we’re in dire need of donations of food, cages, tunnels, and other rat-related supplies.

Kitsap Humane Society will be closed today – Memorial Day – in remembrance of all the remarkable women, men, and – yes – animals who have fallen in service to our country. We will resume our regular hours on Tuesday, May 26 and the Adoptions Center will reopen on Wednesday, May 27 at noon.

Wherever you are today – on a boat, at a barbecue, walking with your pup – please pause for a minute of silence at 3 p.m. to remember our heroes.

This guy Roscoe is the kind of dog who makes your house feel happier the second he walks in. He's playful, affectionate, and so eager to please. If you've ever wanted a dog who looks at you like "am I doing this right?" - that's Roscoe. His whole mission in life is to be a good boy for his person.

He loves to run, chase a ball, and play with other dogs... but he's just as happy settling down nearby once he's gotten his energy out. Bonus: he's incredibly quiet (we've only heard him bark a few times!) and completely unfazed by things like the vacuum. Easy, steady, and low-drama. He’s great with other dogs and would love a brother or sister, loves his toys, and loves his treats more.

We're two weeks away and just passed the halfway point to our goal!

She’s kind of a big deal – she’s Degal!

Just like Miss Lauper, this girl just wants to have fun. Playtime is the best part of Degal’s day and loves to chase tennis balls, though she’s not quite clear on the dropping them part of the game. She’s getting there. She loves to snuggle and get back scratches and face rubs. But the thing she adores the most is treats. She will do anything for another treat. A pup-cup? Oh yes. Cheese? Absolutely. Jerky snacks? Thank you, may I have another?
