Found on the corner of Silver Lake Road and 20a in the town of Perry, this unneutered sweet boy was wandering around and getting in the streets. 🥳ADOPTED!🥳

Over the many years of doing this job you find yourself falling head over heels with a dog that just needs a 2nd chance.Ellie is one of those dogs. She was adopted years ago from our shelter when she was under 2 years old. Ellie out lived her owner and was once again was at the Wyoming County Animal Shelter needing a new home again. Ellie was going to be a hard dog to re home. She was now at least 10 years old. She couldn’t go into a home with a cat, another dog and she had condition needing medicine every day. So we were on a mission to find her a home under all those conditions. We didn’t give up but the months just kept going by. I’ve always said there is a home out there for every dog, we just have to keep trying. Then this lady comes into the shelter looking for an older dog…could this be the one….. oh yes it was!!
Our “Ellie” is homeward bound and we are all so thankful at the shelter. We are thankful we didn’t give up, thankful for all the hours volunteers gave this sweetheart, and for residence of Wyoming County for their support and for looking at the shelter for their new family member. Congratulations Ellie and to her new family. We will miss you but we celebrate your new beginnings. Have a wonderful 2nd chance !

Abe was found as a stray in the town of Arcade. He was never claimed so Wyoming County animal control put him up for adoption. after our first vet appointment, we were told he was only four months old. So he had to stay with the Shelter until he was old enough to be neutered. Animal Friends of Wyoming County took care of all this medical needs. Abe now has a great home with a new family and will live a good healthy life. Thank you always for adopting in our Shelter.

Wiggles was found as a stray in the village of Castile. She was never claimed by an owner so she was put up for adoption. Right from the beginning we all fell in love with her. Her tail would wag so hard and fast the her whole body “wiggled”, that’s how she got her name. We are so thankful for AFWC to the sponsoring of her spay and microchipping. We are so happy for Wiggles and her new life and family.

She came to the shelter as a stray. She was found on the side of the road. After about a week and no one claimed her we realized she was in need of her forever home. Hillary is a pug mix with a lot of energy… and loves being loved on. AFWC sponsored her for her spaying and microchip. She was lucky to find a home with A2 ladies who have adopted from us before… she will have a good life with these gals! Go live a good life Hillary!

Kody…. Now Kodiak has left the building!!!
Kodiak was a dog found during a storm in February. He is a very vocal husky and he kept us very entertained! After finding out he had an owner that didn’t want him he went up for adoption. AFWC neutered and microchipped Kodiak and he was given all his core vaccines. Now he has a forever home with a family who had adopted from us before and loves their dogs and gives them a great forever home!! Hugs to Kodiak!

🥳ADOPTION!🥳
Not often do shelters get such a jewel of a dog to rehome. Rhea was picked up as a stray from the Town of Perry. After posting her to locate an owner we got a call. Our new girl Rhea had been in several homes in her short 3 years. We knew that this would be her last search in having a forever home. Rhea is a beautiful, but very thin boxer. I’m only a few hours of being at the shelter we realized that she was deaf. Because she was so thin and deaf we had her at the veterinary in a few hours. Because she was so thin we had to keep her longer than usual to have her spayed. We knew of a family who loved boxers and had owned a deaf white boxer to boot! So our sweet Rhea has not only become a healthier girl but has found the home of her dreams ( and ours! ) enjoy your new life sweet girl!
