Firm, fair and effective. (I kept saying assertive by mistake in the video) but if you’re not being firm fair and effective you won’t be understood and you’ll be in a weird , confusing sometimes dangerous gray area. Horses don’t like that area. They like and need things black and white. VERY CLEAR.
To be effective doesn’t mean always more pressure. It can mean be more clear, wait longer sometimes, block this shoulder or hip, give more of an open rein, leg, knee etc. but bottom line if you’re not effective you’re not understood and if you’re in the gray area you’re hindering your growth.
