June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month! This month is all about looking out for our feline friends in need and helping them get the second chances they deserve.

So what can you do?!?🐱

1. Adopt—Like the name of this month implies, adopting is a huge way to help vulnerable cats and kittens nationwide. June is part of the height of feline breeding season, otherwise known as kitten season, where shelters across the country are inundated with kittens. When you adopt a cat from a shelter, you make an impact that ripples throughout the entire shelter system – saving that animal’s life and making room for others.

2. Foster—If you’re not ready to commit to adopting a pet just yet, try fostering! Not only does it give you the opportunity to see if you’re ready to adopt, but it gives the animals the chance to decompress outside of the shelter for a little while and experience life in a loving home.

3. Donate—Check in with your local shelters and rescues and see what they are in need of.

Veterinarian Mental Health

May is mental health awareness month and Jackson Veterinary Services supports Not One More Vet to promote a healthy and safe workplace for our employees and others in our field.

It's an unfortunate reality that one in six vets consider su***de at some point in their careers. The high rate may be due in part to the challenges in the veterinary profession, including compassion fatigue, low earnings and student debt, and limited lifespan of pet clients. Su***de stands at the most extreme of the spectrum, but there are those who struggle with mental distress and depression as side effects of this job as well.

This month we challenge our colleagues to take care of yourself and if you need help reach out, we are here for you.
