FAD: Free Animal Doctor Secure, guaranteed funding for pets who need life changing and life saving medical procedures. FAD's current focus is on cats and dogs.

FAD, Free Animal Doctor, is a charitable organization dedicated to funding life saving and life improving medical procedures for animals. Across America there are pets that desperately need medical procedures their owners cannot afford. We provide a secure, guaranteed way to fund the animals' procedure that is also tax deductible. Unlike other crowd funding organization we do not fund the pet owne

r, we fund the veterinarian directly. This way donors know that their money is going straight to cat or dog that needs the attention! In addition, we personally visit, interview and background check our list of approved vets, and get a discount from them. This means we can usually provide the animal with the necessary medical procedure for less than if someone funded it themselves, so your donation goes further. Half the goal. All the care Akitra needed.

Akitra is an 11-year-old Maltese/Terrier mix with advanced dental disease — the kind of pain that needs a vet, not a wait. But his vet had stopped offering payment plans, and now wanted the full bill up front.

For Tanya, 78 and on a fixed income, that was impossible. So she asked FAD for help.

Here's where we got proactive. The moment donations reached half the goal, we called the vet directly — and he agreed to take that deposit and let Tanya pay the rest in installments.

½ the goal was enough to get Akitra into the vet. The full procedure is covered. 💛

Sometimes we don't need the whole amount to get the care done. We raised 50%, made the call, and worked out the rest — because we stay proactive on every campaign, always working to get the best result.

❤-- Help More Dogs in Urgent Situations Like Luna! --🐾

Luna had a condition called pyometra, an infection of the uterus. The infection causes the uterus to swell, and eventually burst, which results in death from septic shock: the body cannot handle the sudden internal flood of the viral infection.

There is only one solution: surgery to remove the uterus. And if the swelling is as bad as it is here, that needs to happen NOW.

Her owner Anthony took her to an ER vet, and they told him it would cost over $10,000 an amount he did not have, and did not have any way to raise. Also, a ridiculous price! This surgery is often done in the range of $2000-$4000.

Fortunately, in desperation, Anthony found us on Thursday. We were able to get him an appointment two hours from his home that evening, for around $2000. He pawned everything he had that could be pawned, with friends chipping in, and drove to west Los Angeles.

Here you can see Luna on the surgery table that evening. The doctor squeezed her into his busy Thursday schedule because he recognized the emergency. Even then, it was worse that he expected.

Below you can see what looks like sausage around a orange-ish mass. That sausage shape is the uterus, at least 10x larger than it should be. Where the green arrows point are two particularly swollen areas the doctor said he was afraid to touch. They were so hard and swollen he though they might burst at any time.

The entire uterus was carefully removed. Luna was stitched up, and late the evening she was already awake!

The doctor kept her all day Friday, but by late afternoon she was released back to Anthony, able to walk out of the clinic! Today (Sunday) she is doing great at home!!

She is eating and drinking normally, and back to being a happy dog! (Yes there are some pain meds that might be helping, but the point is she is making a full recovery).

One thing we do daily at FAD is give people recommendations and useful information on vet care. Many people simply need direction to more affordable options. And sometimes we can help with emergency cases, like Luna's.

Help us with this work by making a donation to Free Animal Doctor directly. Click any of the ORANGE buttons to make a donation right now. We appreciate it, and it will be used to make all the difference to more dogs like Luna in the future!
