The Shelby County Animal Shelter - Ohio is hosting basic obedience dog training classes! There will be 6 weeks of classes with 2 separate class times, 6pm and 7pm, each Thursday. Only 16 total spaces available, so sign up quickly!

DON’T LET A BREED LABEL BE THE REASON YOU WALK PAST.

Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes are often some of the most overlooked dogs in shelters. People see the label and sometimes make assumptions before ever meeting the dog.

But every dog is an individual. Some are playful, some are couch potatoes, some are goofy, some are shy, and some simply want to be your best friend. Just like any breed, they each have their own personality, needs, and the type of home where they will thrive.

We aren't asking you to ignore what you want in a dog. We're asking you to meet the dog before deciding who they are.

Stop at their kennel. Say hello. Take them for a walk. Give them a chance to show you who they really are.
Because behind that breed label is simply a dog waiting for someone to see them.

Don't overlook them. Their perfect family may be looking right back at them.
