URO2 UWPCH GRCH'PR'3bf Set In Stone @ Black Label

"Effie Jean" finished her 2022 show season UNDEFEATED for MOST WEIGHT PULLED DIV A! She is also still standing at NUMBER 3 in UKC TOP TEN out of a lovely list of Rats. To add to an outstanding year, she earned many new titles in conformation, weight pull and Rally! She is the epitome of beauty, brains and work ethic. ❤

Even though most of us consider our terriers to be members of our families, we need to remember that no matter how much we love them, they are still dogs, not furry little humans. They are beautiful, fascinating, intelligent, funny, irritating, independent, loyal, loving, entertaining, unique beings, but they are definitely NOT human. They are dogs. And they aren't just any type of dog either; they are TERRIERS. We need to understand and appreciate the similarities and differences between humans and dogs to have a positive relationship with our terriers. And we need to understand and appreciate the similarities and differences between terriers and other breeds of dog to teach them most effectively how to live in our modern world.

I'm a little late with the update, but a couple weekends ago we ventured to the APBTCoNE UKC show. It was super cold and pouring rain all day for this outdoor show.

Dez and Obi did phenomenal in weight pull despite the weather! Dez maxed out in 10 seconds, pulling 290 lbs (22.3%) and earning First Place in the 20 lbs A class and winning another Most Weight Pulled Veteran!

Obi really dug in and worked his butt off! He was just shy of maxing out, but still earned First Place in the 30 lbs B class and another 20 points towards his Excellent title! He pulled 650 lbs, which was 27.08%, less than 1% needed to max out. I can truly say he never quit on me despite being a hard pull. He gave his all every time he went in the chute and stayed nice and straight the entire time. I couldn't ask for better work ethic!

Effie was the only one in the breed ring, but it was great practice and she's really maturing nicely. She ultimately earned a Group 3 and 4! Not too shabby for a silly puppeh!

Yesterday I attended the Silver City K9 UKC show. It was HOT HOT HOT outside!

Effie was the only Rat Terrier there for the day in conformation, so we moved right into Terrier Group. She earned a Group 3 in the morning and a Group 4 in the afternoon! For an 8 month old puppy who just came out of heat, and only her second show out on such a very hot day, she did phenomenal! This bitch is just HAPPY and so enthusiastic about everything! I literally couldn't ask for a better dog or personality.

Obi and I competed in Rally hosted by the Dog Obedience Guidance School. In the morning trial we scored 100 and won HIGH IN TRIAL!!! I never expected that! In the afternoon, we were both quite cooked from the heat. We earned a 93 out of 100, placing 1st in our class. This was an outside Rally. The wind was picking up and blowing things all over, and that did spook him causing tight leash deductions. BUT, overall, still SUPER proud of us! All the things I wanted to improve and did work on from the last trial came through!

Dezi -- 8 years old and a complete ROCK STAR! She DOMINATED weight pull hosted by the APBTCoNE! She went in the chute ready as always. She threw down! Ultimately she maxed out in 6 seconds on a natural surface! She weighed in at 13 pounds, and pulled 290 lbs in 6 seconds winning MOST WEIGHT PULLED in Division A and Most Weight Pulled Veteran!!! I know she could've pulled more, but we'll have to move the B Division for that.

This past weekend, we ventured to our first dog show in nearly 2 years! This was Effie's first time in the ring, and she did fantastic. We still have a lot to learn, but overall it was a wonderful experience for her. He earned a couple Best Females and a Best of Winners!

Obi and I made our Rally debut -- finally! We scored 91, 91, and a 90 in each trial, earning 2 First Places and a Second in Rally 1 and brining home our URO1 title!

Obi and Dez worked their butts off in weight pull on the toughest track we've encountered yet! It was a natural surface with a slight incline and proved very difficult for even the most experienced pulling dogs. Obi was pretty cooked mentally after doing Rally as well, but he pulled 245 lbs (10.2%) on Saturday and 335 lbs (13.9%) Sunday, winning First Place in the 30 lbs B class both days. I'm thinking Obi may be retiring from pulling soon and we'll be focusing our efforts on Rally Obedience.

Dez was outstanding in weight pull! At 8 years old, this girl seems to love it more every time we go out! She is always ready to work and dig in. Weighing in at 13 lbs, Dez pulled 200 lbs (15.3%) in 7.5 seconds on Saturday winning First Place in her 20 lbs A class. Sunday she went in much more confident, pulling 245 lbs (18.8%) in 9.04 seconds not only winning First Place but also a Most Weight Pulled Veteran in Division A, as well as her UWP title and gaining 25 points to her UWPCH!
