With the recent monsoons, we have seen an increase in mosquitoes. Mosquitoes can transmit numerous infectious diseases such as heart worms in both dogs and cats, as well as West Nile Virus and Eastern/Western Encephalitis in horses. We encourage all of our clients to have their companion animals on monthly heart worm prevention and all horses vaccinated for West Nile and Eastern/Western, especially with recent infections of West Nile in our region. Please call the clinic to get your companion animal or horse scheduled.♥️🐾🐴

Everyone meet Mr. Oso!🐶🐾♥️
Oso is a golden doodle who presented with excessive vomiting and lethargy. Unfortunately, Oso is known for eating things he is not supposed to so his mom acted quickly and brought him in immediately! Radiographs showed material in his stomach that did not look like food and was not passing out of the stomach.☹️

Dr. Ochoa and Dr. Stoddard decided that trying to use an endoscope to remove the blockage would be beneficial to try to avoid a full surgery. An endoscope is a tool we use with a little camera at the end of it for us to look into the body less invasively.

Thankfully, they were successful in retrieving what was causing the blockage! Oso decided a meal consisting of a back sock, and two baby wipes would be delicious!🧦🧻

Avoiding surgery was a huge win here and Oso can go right back to his regular activities! We are so happy for this outcome!♥️🐶🐾🩺

Meet Roo!🐶🐾🩺
This girl is 8 months old and recently got a new human sibling. Roo has decided that baby items are a delicious snack!
Unfortunately for Roo, her sneaky snacking landed her on our surgery table.🩺
Roo presented with vomiting, lethargy and weight loss. Upon radiographing her abdomen the blockage could be seen in her intestines. Unfortunately, repeat radiographs the next day showed that the blockage was not moving and surgery was suggested.
Dr. Snyder did the foreign body surgery and once she was able to visualize the intestines, she decided an R&A was necessary. This means a part of her intestines were removed and the healthy portions of the intestine were sutured together.
Roo is doing amazing! Dr. Snyder did a great job and Roo is thriving. This is a reminder that your pet can’t always pass what they ingest. Keep items you know that your pet might make a meal of out of reach. ♥️🐾

Roo’s blockage consisted of a baby bath scrubber, a pacifier, and a towel. Pretty impressive on her part!We think her face says she’s sorry!😂♥️
