Join us in celebrating Dr. Stephanie D**g, DVM, DACVIM and her 8 years of dedication to our patients and families at VVC Short Pump! ❤️

Originally from Southern California, Dr. D**g earned her veterinary degree from Western University of Health Sciences before completing her internship at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston and her internal medicine residency at Veterinary Specialty Hospital in San Diego.
Dr. D**g enjoys all aspects of internal medicine, with special interests in endocrinology, immune-mediated diseases, gastroenterology, and nephrology. She also performs advanced procedures and imaging to help diagnose and treat complex medical conditions.

❤️ What does she love most about VVC?
“I like that we are a family here. I have developed many close friendships. We not only deeply care about the pets and families we help, but we care about each other.”

When she’s not caring for patients, Dr. D**g enjoys traveling, rock climbing, hiking, and yoga. She shares her home with two cats, Fish and Chips, and her Doberman, Alice!

Diabetes can affect much more than your dog’s blood sugar. One of the most common complications is cataract formation, which can develop quickly and may lead to vision loss.

November is Diabetes Awareness Month, and we’re celebrating by offering FREE eye exams for diabetic dogs all month long at VVC Short Pump! Regular eye exams allow our Ophthalmology team to look for changes early, even before you notice a problem at home. Early detection can help protect your dog’s vision and comfort. This is a great opportunity to have their eyes checked by our board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist at no cost!

🐾💙 A little Dachtoberfest follow-up!
We had such a great time connecting with the community at Dachtoberfest! Thank you to everyone who stopped by the VVC booth, said hello, shared stories, and showed us some love.

A HUGE thank you to Marilee and Morgan for holding down the booth and representing VVC Short Pump!

And some of our favorite moments were seeing familiar faces!
🐾 Sophie, one of our Neurology patients, stopped by in style, and her parents had the sweetest poster on her stroller! We absolutely loved seeing their support for the VVC team. ❤️
🐾 We also got to see Gina, another one of our Neurology patients, whose parents had such wonderful things to say about their experience with VVC. Hearing directly from families who have trusted us with their pets means so much to our entire team.

🐾 Please join us in welcoming Dr. Ansley Sackett to Our Emergency & Critical Care team!

Dr. Sackett found her passion for emergency medicine while completing her internship at LSU and went on to complete advanced training in Emergency & Critical Care at Tufts University. She has a special interest in caring for pets facing serious injuries, surgical emergencies, and critical illnesses, as well as transfusion medicine.

Most importantly, Dr. Sackett is excited to be here in Virginia and to help care for the pets and families of the Richmond community.
When she’s not at VVC, you’ll find her kayaking, fishing, enjoying live music, checking out local breweries, or spending time with her two rescue pups, Santo and Felix!

🐾🎪 COME PLAY WITH US AT THE FALL PET FAIR! 🎪🐾

We’re bringing the fun to Crump Park on Saturday, October 10th from 11 AM–3 PM!
The Fall Pet Fair is a great day to get outside with your furry family members and enjoy games, activities, pet-friendly fun, and plenty of opportunities to meet other local pet lovers!

And of course, be sure to stop by the Virginia Veterinary Centers booth to meet our team, say hello, and learn more about the care we provide for your pets.

🐾 WoofStock 2026 -Animal Fundraiser was a PAW-some day! 🐾

Last weekend, our team at Virginia Veterinary Centers Short Pump had the best time getting out into the community and celebrating all things dogs with our friends at Richmond Animal League! From pup cups and tasty treats to meeting some seriously adorable four-legged friends, it was such a fun day!

We loved seeing Jeff Wicker and Rebecca Wilde from 98.1 FM’s Wicker & Wilde with sweet Shortstop, an 8-year-old girl who is still looking for her forever home through Richmond Animal League. And of course, Coco and Miko had an important job to do… taste-testing some delicious treats from Dog Krazy!

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our tent, said hello, played some games, entered our raffle, grabbed a pup cup, or simply shared the day with us. We loved seeing so many familiar faces and meeting so many new ones! ❤️🐾

You wouldn’t know it by looking at him now, but this little guy had cataract surgery just 7 months ago. A few weeks ago, he came to VVC with a deep, severely infected corneal ulcer. Because he also has dry eye, he was at higher risk for developing a complicated ulcer. Despite aggressive antibiotics and anticollagenase medications (help slow the destruction of the corneal tissue), the ulcer progressed and eventually ruptured.

Dr. Allison Fuchs, DVM, MS, DACVO, and our VVC Ophthalmology team stepped in. Dr. Fuchs performed a conjunctival graft to repair the eye, and thankfully, he is now doing very well! ❤️

Dr. Fuchs specializes in ophthalmology, with a particular interest in microsurgery, and cases like this highlight the level of specialized care available right here at VVC.

We can’t wait to share an update photo of this little guy’s progress soon! 🐶👁️💙

Shortstop is officially bandage-free! ❤️🐾

Here at Short Pump VVC, we loved receiving this sweet update from Shortstop’s family after his recent surgery on his front right paw!
They shared: “A BIG thank-you to the wonderful team who took such great care of our boy!”

They also gave a special shoutout to CiCi, one of our Client Service Representatives, who welcomed them with her beautiful big smile 😊, and Ashton, one of our veterinary technicians, who carefully removed Shortstop’s bandage and helped make his visit positive and stress-free.

As Shortstop’s family shared:
“Our heartfelt thanks to both CiCi and Ashton for making his visit so positive and stress-free.” ❤️

And the best part of their update?
“Shortstop is SO happy to finally be bandage-free!”

🐾🌭 WE’RE HEADING TO DACHTOBERFEST! 🌭🐾

This Saturday, October 3rd, from 9:30 AM–4 PM, the Virginia Veterinary Centers team will be at Richmond Raceway for Dachtoberfest 2026!
We’re excited to be back out in the community with a booth and can’t wait to meet all of the adorable dachshunds and their people! Stop by, say hello, meet our team, and learn more about the specialty and emergency care we provide for the pets you love.
