MORE THAN 580,000 PEOPLE SPOKE UP—AND A PROPOSED AI DATA CENTER NEAR A ZOO WAS STOPPED. 🦁❤️

The Nashville Zoo at Grassmere opposed a planned AI data center that was expected to be built on land next to the zoo’s animal habitats.

Zoo officials and conservation advocates raised concerns about potential impacts from constant noise, bright lighting, heat, and heavy water use, warning that these conditions could disturb the zoo’s more than 3,000 animals.

A petition supporting the zoo eventually gathered more than 580,000 signatures, drawing national attention to the proposed development.

Musicians including Jack White, Sheryl Crow, and Brad Paisley also voiced support for the campaign.

Following the public response, Nashville officials moved to acquire the property through eminent domain, effectively preventing the data center from being built at that location.

The campaign became a powerful example of what can happen when a community comes together to protect a place—and the animals that call it home. 🐘🌿
