Attention Club Members: OK...it's ON for the club time on this Saturday October 24th to take place in the evening from 5:30 to approximately 8:00. Halloween themed Pot Luck and pup costume parade. It will be a cool evening so dress appropriately. It is Fall! Volunteers for set up and clean up gladly accepted. Let me know per private message how many are coming from your family to allow for planning food quantity. I can also let you know what is planned so far for the potluck so we can get a well rounded potluck. If there are previous club members who would like to participate in this (and you have kept your training up) you are also welcome to come with a small donation for the time, I would love to see you and your pups. Just contact me in advance. See you Saturday for A Howling Good Time!

Klaus participated in Club time yesterday with club member Byron. I wanted to see how he would do with a stranger. I have had him out in club twice to work out his over excitability around dogs. He is much less distracted and nervous around dogs. I was pleased with how he did. Every time he gets better. Klaus is up for adoption through Golden State German Shepherd Rescue. If you might be interested in this great GSD fill out the adoption form on line with the rescue or get in touch with me. Thank you to Byron for working with Klaus in the club!

Attention Club Members: I am considering offering an evening Halloween club time on Saturday October 24th. This would be a potluck and Halloween themed club. The timing would be 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. I would like to know who would be interested in this change to the normal Saturday morning club time. I thought it would make an interesting training experience. If you are interested in this please pm me so I can get an idea of whether to keep the morning time or do an evening instead. On Halloween Sat. 31, 2026 class will be in the a.m. as usual. This will also be a Halloween themed potluck.

Decided to do an update on Klaus the foster dog. He is doing great and has gained weight and settled in. His coat is now lustrous shiny. I've been working systematically on his obedience starting with recall, leash work and being under control around other dogs in club time. The first club time after he arrived he was very nervous and extremely excitable. I have determined that this is probably from being in a group of dogs at the shelter. This weekend he was in the club time for the second time and was considerably more relaxed. He bonds strongly to his person which at the moment is me. This boy is going to make someone a fine family addition. He is easy to have around and loves being with people. I would say he is low to moderate energy. He does have some prey drive when it comes to squirrels but is happy to hang out and help with the chores and gardening here. Cats are unknown so I can't assess that but if they are dog savvy and don't run it might work out. I wouldn't rule out another dog in the family if it was the right one and he had some training but currently I'd say he should be an only dog based on the shelter input. If you are interested in this charmer get in touch with Golden State German Shepherd Rescue or me. If you would like to meet him for adoption consideration just give me a call and we'll set something up. This is an extremely easy GSD!

In order to allow the dogs that come here freedom to explore I work on recall asap. B/T Chunk has been here 2 days and is doing well. I leave the leash on at first but I believe he is doing well enough to start leaving it off. He comes well but we will be working on the quiet sit next. Step by step is how I work out the glitches with the B/T dogs. So far I am pleased with how he's doing after 2 days.

Welcome New Board/Train boy Chunk. Chunk is a Micro Bully who is 4 years old. He is here to learn manners. He is 75 pounds of pure power. He has shown a good temperament but is very stubborn and gets overly excited. He has been here a couple days and is doing very well. He is also a little insecure around new people. Initially he was a little aggressive to his neighbor kennel dog but that has resolved with a little help. He is affectionate and has bonded very quickly with me. Since he has adapted so well I've been able to start his training after only a couple of days. I think this will be a very interesting B/T as he likes to test but responds well to leadership. I look forward to this journey. It was a little busy when he was dropped off but will get photos in 2 weeks with his owner.
