We go back and forth. Back and forth.

Fin is more uncomfortable about the leash dragging than the muzzle.
Lots of nice distractions on our street today.

Did you know most of our training happens at home and *GASP* 😱 In our Pj's??
Training can happen any time, anywhere! And it doesn't have to take away the whole day.

This session is less than 5 minutes. And you can do multiple mini sessions just like this throughout the day.

Muzzle training can be fun and stress free for you, and your dog!

*Green beans make a great low calorie treat, and don't crumble when sticking them through muzzle holes!

We love our muzzled boy 💙

Muzzled dogs are LOVED dogs!

When I see a properly fitted muzzle on a dog who looks comfortable & confident out and about… I tip my hat and hold deep respect, admiration and gratitude for their guardians!

To care enough to provide your pup with a full life while also protecting them and others is such a Beautiful thing!

Dogs are individuals & are part of human lives that are very different & nuanced! No one size fits all here!

* some pups are happier at home but for the pups who love to get out and about muzzles are a game changer!

* dogs ware muzzles for lots of reasons ( not just to prevent bites)

* When properly fitted and conditioned dogs can wear muzzles with comfort & confidence!

Drop a ♥️ for this amazing muzzled pup

When I say Fin loves his muzzle, I mean it. There's been no negative association, and even without treats, it's almost like a game. We put our head in, we take it out.
The muzzle floats around our living room, because you never know when it'll be time for a quick little session.

In the last photo, you can see it's not even strapped on. Just sitting on the arm of the chair, and he puts his face in. No prompting or bribing. Is it a slow process? Yup. But I'd rather my dog willingly put the muzzle on, instead of struggling in an emergency situation.

They have plenty of premade options available, as well as custom options for the color combo that you want!

Off-leash exploration, while a privilege, necessitates that your canine companion consistently responds to recall commands and maintains sufficient focus on you, rather than becoming distracted by the surrounding environment.

In the accompanying video, Knox demonstrates his ability to explore independently while reliably returning upon being whistled. An e-collar is incorporated into this training regimen. Specifically, if there is no immediate response to the whistle, the e-collar's tone function is activated. The verbal cues "YES" and "OK" serve as both a reward and an affirmation of successful ex*****on in this context.

"YES" functions as a marker word. During the initial stages of training, the dog is introduced to this marker word, and every successful action is immediately followed by a reward, whether it be food, praise, or a toy. The marker word communicates to the dog that a reward is imminent. This can be conceptualized similarly to receiving a paycheck for work completed; the expectation of compensation is established.

In the latter portion of this video, you will observe my attempt to elicit eye contact from Knox, which was initially unsuccessful. After reiterating the command twice, I opted to employ a waiting strategy, which subsequently prompted him to stand. At that juncture, I repositioned him into a sitting posture and reissued the request for eye contact. Upon successful ex*****on, the video concluded, and he was released to resume exploration. The underlying principle demonstrated here is the importance of concluding interactions on a positive reinforcement. Should a command not be immediately followed, it is advisable to reset the scenario and re-issue the command, concluding the interaction favorably once the desired action is achieved.

When engaging in off-leash walking with an e-collar, it is important to note that a 6-inch traffic leash is utilized in this video for immediate control should any unforeseen circumstances arise.

During off-leash heeling exercises with Knox, my objective is not for him to be rigidly positioned at my side. The primary goal of this training is to cultivate his ability to remain within a one-foot radius of me, while simultaneously maintaining sufficient attentiveness to return to my side and either stand or sit upon my cessation of movement.
We would also like to note that in this video we are not using any food reward. The reward in this case is the release from the stay or sit position and to continue on with the walk.
We frequently practice "stop and sit" commands, in addition to "stay to heel" exercises. These techniques offer significant advantages in daily environments, contributing to the safety and well-being of both you and your canine companion.
