🐈‍⬛ **Black cats bring the charm—let’s keep them safe from Halloween harm!** 🎃

At **Baeyens Hauk Veterinary Group**, we know black cats are wonderful companions who deserve love every day of the year. With Halloween approaching, a little planning can help keep cats of EVERY color comfortable and safe:

🏠 **Keep them indoors.** Bring your cat inside before trick-or-treating begins, and watch for escape attempts when opening the door.

🚪 **Create a quiet retreat.** A closed room with their litter box, water, and a favorite hiding spot gives them a break from doorbells and unfamiliar visitors.

🍬 **Keep treats out of reach.** Candy, wrappers, and decorations belong somewhere curious paws can’t reach.

🕯️ **Choose battery-operated candles.** Keep playful paws and swishing tails away from open flames.

🎭 **Skip stressful costumes.** If your cat isn’t comfortable dressing up, their natural Halloween look is already purr-fect!

🖤 **The only thing spooky about a black cat is how quickly they can steal your heart.**

🎃🐾 Keep the BOO's Fun and the Candy Away from Curious Paws! 🍬👻

Halloween is full of sweet treats, spooky surprises, and plenty of excitement! But at Baeyens Hauk Veterinary Group, we want to remind pet owners that some Halloween goodies can be downright frightening for our four-legged friends!

🍫 Chocolate: Especially dark chocolate and baking chocolate, which can be toxic to pets.

🍬 Sugar-Free Candy & Gum: Some contain xylitol (birch sugar), which can be extremely dangerous for dogs.

🍇 Raisins: These can cause serious kidney damage in dogs, even in small amounts.

🍭 Candy Wrappers: Shiny wrappers may look like toys, but swallowing them can lead to choking or intestinal blockages.

👻 A Few Tricks to Keep Your Pets Safe:
🎃 Keep candy bowls and trick-or-treat bags out of reach.
🎃 Remind little ghosts and goblins not to share their candy with pets.
🎃 Secure the Halloween stash before heading to bed.
🎃 Offer pet-safe treats so your furry friends don't feel left out!

🚨 Think your pet got into the Halloween candy? Don't wait for symptoms! Contact your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary hospital right away.

From all of us at Baeyens Hauk Veterinary Group, we wish you and your furry family members a safe, happy, and wonderfully SPOOKY Halloween! 🧡🐶🐱

Remember: The scariest thing this Halloween shouldn't be an unexpected trip to the vet! 👻

🌍🐾 Today is World Rabies Day, a reminder that keeping your pet’s rabies vaccination current helps protect pets, people, and our community.

Even pets who spend most of their time indoors can have unexpected encounters with wildlife. If you’re unsure when your pet’s next rabies vaccine is due, give our team a call. We’re happy to help you check their records and schedule a visit.

🍂 Pumpkin season is here—and your dog might enjoy a little, too!

A small amount of plain pumpkin can add fiber to your dog’s diet and may help with occasional mild digestive upset. Look for 100% pumpkin purée, with no added sugar or spices. Pumpkin pie filling is for the humans! 🎃🐾

If your dog’s tummy trouble continues, or they’re vomiting or acting unwell, give Baeyens Hauk Veterinary Group a call. We’re happy to help you figure out what your pup needs.

🐾 Your dog would like to file a formal complaint against allergy season. 😂

Exhibit A: The paw chewing.
Exhibit B: The scratching.
Exhibit C: The head shaking.
Exhibit D: That one spot they WILL. NOT. STOP. LICKING.

Dogs can suffer from allergies too, and their symptoms often show up as itchy skin and irritated ears rather than the sneezing and sniffles we associate with human allergies.

Keep an eye out for:
🐶 Red or irritated skin
🐶 Constant licking or chewing of the paws
🐶 Frequent scratching
🐶 Recurring ear infections
🐶 Head shaking or ear scratching
🐶 Hot spots or hair loss

Environmental allergens, fleas, food sensitivities, and other conditions can all contribute to an itchy pup—which means finding the cause is important before deciding on the best treatment.

If your dog has turned scratching into a full-time hobby, the team at Baeyens Hauk Veterinary Group can help get to the bottom of the itch. ❤️🐾

Because your dog has much better things to do with those paws.
