In 2016, veterinarian Joanne Bak DVM, CCRT founded PAW REHAB (Pacific Animal Wellness Rehabilitation Center), to bring state-of-the-art animal rehabilitation services to the Los Angeles area. Here at PAW REHAB, we provide wellness solutions and pain management to debilitated, injured, orthopedic, neurological, post-operative, and aging dogs and cats. We also offer fitness, weight loss, and conditioning programs for working dogs and canine athletes. From acupuncture and laser therapy to underwater treadmill, bodywork, and more, we’ve got everything necessary to help your pet in the healing process. We can help manage your pet’s chronic pain, recover them from injuries stronger and faster, and get them back to living their best lives.

We remember the thousands of innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, the families who were forever changed, and the countless first responders and ordinary people who showed extraordinary courage.

And we remember the four-legged heroes who answered the call alongside them.

The search-and-rescue dogs of 9/11 worked tirelessly through unimaginable conditions, guided by their handlers and supported by veterinary teams who cared for them every step of the way. They searched for survivors, comforted those in need, and brought hope when it was needed most.

In commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of September 11th, PAW REHAB has made a PAW HEROES of 9/11 Tribute Wall at our reception desk to honor the furred heroes of 9/11.

To our PAW HEROES: our furred angels, you need search no more but know you made a difference, were loved and will be remembered.

We remember the lives lost. We honor those who served. And we will never forget. 🩵🇺🇸🐾

We wanted to send a huge thank you to VCA Veterinary Specialists of the Valley’s veterinarian Dr. Connie Martin and Registered Veterinary Technician Desteny for spending the afternoon with us last week for a CPR refresher! 🩺

We’re so grateful for the opportunity to refresh our skills, learn from such an amazing veterinary team, and make sure we’re always prepared to give the best possible care to the animals who count on us.

What happens during a rehabilitation evaluation at PAW REHAB?

In this video, Dr. Bak walks you through an examination with our star of the week: Auggie! 🐶

Whether it’s an initial visit or a recheck, we take the time to get to know your pet and how they’re moving. During their assessment, our veterinarian will:
🐕 Watch them walk and move
🩵 Listen to their heart
🦴 Check proprioception (body awareness) and neurologic function
🤲 Gently assess spinal comfort with palpation
📏 Measure muscle mass and joint range of motion

Our evaluations are designed to be comfortable and low-stress! We always work at your pet’s pace, taking breaks as needed and making sure they feel safe throughout the visit.

These findings help us create (or adjust) a personalized rehabilitation plan to keep your pet moving, feeling, and living their best! 🐾🩵
