Spring is here! Make sure your horse is protected.

Your horse’s immune system does extraordinary and complex work, but even this intricate defense mechanism can’t go at it alone. Vaccination has proven to be an extremely effective and safe way to provide a targeted boost to the immune system to help safe¬guard horses against deadly infectious diseases.

A horse in Wyoming has tested positive for vesicular stomatitis - a virus that can cause painful sores in infected animals. The horse is the first case diagnosed in the state this year.
Several cases in horses and cattle have been found in Colorado, New Mexico, Texas and Arizona. The disease is thought to be spread by insects that migrate along river valleys and can also threaten sheep, goats and pigs.
Use basic steps to help prevent spread of the disease when traveling to events with your livestock:
- Fly control - frequent application of fly repellent
- Separate your animal from others during the show
- Don't share tack or feeding, watering, and grooming equipment.
Clinical signs include: vesicles and sloughing of the skin on the muzzle, tongue, teats, and above the hooves.
