A little update on Zena. I apologize for being a little slack with keeping the page updated since Zena came along. I will start to post more of our training in the future. Zena has come a long way since we adopted her.

Dog Days. To end the day I took Doc and did a ring rental at Lucky Dog Academy in Plainfield. Had a great time. Doc started off with a bang but ran out of gas quickly tonight. He did learn how to do a "lap back". I did manage to get him threw one of the hardest courses we have ever done. We practiced our back side jumps. He is really starting to understand "back". His front crosses were absolutely beautiful tonight.

Zena's day out today. We started out at Rural King in Plano, IL. Then we went to Petsmart in Yorkville. Once we got done there we went to the Petsmart in Oswego. To finish our trip we went back to Rural King to get some more treats. Zena got to meet TONS of people today. She REALLY likes the little kids. Surprising enough she is very gentle with them. We did a LOT of work on sitting and focusing in distractions. We came across a adoption event with LOTS of little dogs barking. Overall she stayed focus pretty good for her first time practicing outside of the house. I was very impressed with her Zena today. One of the MANY things we are wanting to do with Zena is steer her toward being a "ambassa bull" for her breed. We would like to get her involved in doing some child education on how to correctly interact with dogs. Once we get past more of the basic obedience training she will start to do some therapy dog work. Between learning agility and all the other things we have planned for her she is going to be a busy girl for the next couple years. Looking forward to seeing her mature and learn more and more.

Zena tried her paws at getting on the exercise ball tonight. She did good. Put her front end up on it with no problem. Little worried about all the movement with her back end. She also tried her paws at the travel board. She figured out REALLY quick that those back feet were earning her the rewards. She got to try her paws at a jump with the bar on the ground. She took to the idea rather quickly. Her extreme food motivation helps. I worked with her on her basic obedience training. She has the sit mastered. She understands now that the only way to get things you want is to put that little butt on the ground. She will sit-stay good now unless she thinks she is going to loose sight of me. She is starting to understand lie down. She will actually stay in position briefly. We did a little work on touch. She enjoys doing touch. I swear there is nothing better than watching a puppy learn. You can just see the wheels turning. When they figure it out they just light up.

Zena is doing great. She has mastered sit. Her stay has improved greatly. We are up to about 20 feet away now. She is getting better at down. I started last night doing recall to heel. She did just a little practice on touch. Zena is a very smart little dog. Looking forward to continuing her training.
