Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your experiences with our team. It means the world to us to know that you felt supported during both the difficult and joyful moments of your pets' lives.

We were honored to care for Mac and to help guide you through such an important time with compassion and respect. We know how special those moments are, and we're grateful that you trusted us to be there for you.

It has also been a pleasure welcoming Oakley to our veterinary family! We're so glad we could help him get off to a healthy start and provide the care he needed after your move back to Indiana.

Our entire team is committed to treating every pet and pet owner with kindness, patience, and clear communication, so hearing that reflected in your experience is incredibly rewarding. Thank you for your recommendation and for allowing us to be part of your pets' lives. We look forward to watching Oakley grow for many years to come!

Does your horse qualify for emergency care with JVC?

Knowing you have a plan in place for medical emergencies should be a top priority for horse owners. Please take a moment to ensure you’re up to date with our emergency coverage policies so you are prepared.

🩺 JVC provides 24/7/365 emergency coverage for established equine patients with a valid veterinary-client-patient-relationship (VCPR). This means we’ve examined your horse and provided routine services within the last 12 months. 🐴

A horse *does not* qualify for a current VCPR or guaranteed emergency services if:

❗️If it has been more than 12 months since we last evaluated the horse for routine services

❗️If the only time we’ve treated the patient in the last 12 months was during an emergency or urgent care issue that our veterinarians saw out of good will

❗️If we’ve only dispensed non-prescription items (such as vaccines, ointments, etc) without seeing the patient within 12 months

For patients located more than 30 minutes from JVC, owners should have a plan in place to haul their horse to the clinic if asked to do so. This plan should be readily executable to ensure your horse is seen in a timely manner. Several commercial haulers are located in the area who can haul for those who do not have a truck and trailer at their disposal. Our office is happy to provide a list ahead of time for you to have available should something happen.

Because of the dwindling number of equine practitioners and available emergency veterinarians in the industry, these guidelines were established so we can provide prompt and reliable care for our clients and patients. While we would love to help every animal in every situation, that’s neither a feasible or sustainable expectation. We are unwaveringly committed to being there for our patients, and can continue to do so in cooperation with owners who are prepared.

June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month!

June is the perfect time to open your heart and home to a cat in need. Shelters everywhere are full of amazing feline companions just waiting for their second chance!

Looking for a cat but not necessarily a cuddly house pet? Many local rescues and organizations such as the Humane Society of Hamilton County offer barn cat programs! These cats may not thrive in a traditional indoor home but make excellent outdoor companions for barns, garages, or properties needing natural pest control. It’s a win-win: they get a safe place to live, and you get a hardworking helper!

Whether you’re looking for a lap cat, a playful kitten, or a working barn cat, there’s a perfect match waiting for you.

May is Pet Asthma & Allergy Awareness Month

Just like people, our pets can suffer from asthma and environmental allergies. If you’ve noticed your dog or cat coughing, wheezing, sneezing, itching, or having difficulty breathing, it may be more than just a minor issue.

Common triggers include:

• Pollen, dust, and mold
• Smoke or strong fragrances
• Household cleaners
• Fleas or food sensitivities

For cats, asthma can appear as coughing fits or labored breathing. Dogs more often show signs like itchy skin, licking paws, ear infections, reverse sneezing, or chronic licking.

The good news? There are many ways we can help keep your pet comfortable, from allergy management plans to advanced treatments like injections, medications, diets, and even inhalers tailored to their needs.

If your pet is showing any signs of allergies or breathing trouble, don’t wait, early intervention makes a big difference.
Let’s help your pets breathe easier and live more comfortably. In Hamilton County we are very fortunate to have many allergy and dermatology specialists nearby for your pet to be referred to if needed. Call us to schedule an evaluation!
