When comparing plans, consider:
What is covered and what isn’t?
Are pre-existing conditions excluded?
What are the deductible and reimbursement options?
Are there annual or lifetime coverage limits?
Are there waiting periods?

There isn’t one insurance plan that’s right for every pet or family. The important thing is understanding your options before an unexpected medical situation happens.

Horses with pink skin around their eyelids are prone to developing squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Limiting UV exposure with the use of fly masks or eye visors helps prevent the development of SCC. Lesions can appear as reddened, ulcerated areas or irregularly textured masses along eyelid margins, the third eyelid, or the eyeball itself. Ocular SCC can be managed with topical or injectable chemotherapy, tissue debridement, and certain oral medications. Unfortunately, cases can progress to the point that removal of some or all of the ocular tissues is necessary. As always, prevention is key! ☀️

With changing seasons, schedules, and the holidays fast approaching this is the perfect time to revisit feline urinary blockage.

FELINE URINARY BLOCKAGE = AN EMERGENCY

Is your cat making frequent trips to the litter box but producing little or no urine? Don’t wait it out.

Signs of a possible urinary blockage may include:
⚫ Straining or repeatedly trying to urinate
⚫ Little to no urine coming out
⚫Crying, vocalizing, or acting painful in the litter box
⚫ Frequent trips to the litter box
⚫Licking the urinary/genital area excessively
⚫Urinating outside the litter box
⚫Restlessness, hiding, vomiting, weakness, or loss of appetite

A fully blocked cat cannot urinate, and this can quickly become life-threatening. Male cats are especially at risk because of their narrower urethra.
If you think your cat could be straining and producing little or no urine, give us a call!
A urinary blockage requires prompt treatment and cannot be safely managed at home.
Your cat may not be able to tell you something is wrong but their litter box can.
