The thing about Mr. Whipple is that he approaches his dietary restrictions with the confidence of a man who has never suffered the consequences of his own actions.

Veterinarian: "That food will upset your stomach."

Mr. Whipple: "Sounds like a problem for Future Mr. Whipple."

Future Mr. Whipple has asked us to stop letting Present Mr. Whipple make decisions. Unfortunately, Present Mr. Whipple is not taking feedback at this time. 😹

Kitten season has officially entered its ā€œtiny mouths, enormous appetitesā€ era. 😭

Everywhere we turn, there’s another little face screaming for food like they personally haven’t eaten in AT LEAST four minutes. The nursing moms are inhaling calories at an Olympic level, and the babies are starting to transition onto kitten food… which means our supply is disappearing faster than a foster kitten when it’s medicine time.

If you’d like to help keep the tiny chaos goblins fed, you can send kitten food and supplies directly from our wish lists: https://sheridancatrescue.org/wishlists

Wet kitten food and mother-and-baby formulas are especially needed right now!

We currently have over 30 kittens under 8 weeks old in our care, and trust us… they have informed management that starvation is imminent. Loudly. Repeatedly. Usually while they are still actively eating.

Thank you for helping us keep the babies, the exhausted moms, and our sanity afloat during kitten season. 🐾

FEATURED FELINE FRIDAY: Crissy šŸ’•

Crissy has already had one family once before. She was adopted from us as a tiny kitten, but as life changed and a toddler entered the picture, sweet Crissy found herself overwhelmed by all the chaos that comes with tiny humans and busy little hands. Now at 3 years old, she’s hoping her next home will be her forever one. 🄺

And honestly? Whoever adopts this girl is going to be VERY lucky.

Crissy is the definition of a snuggle bug. She loves attention, enjoys the company of other cats, and would happily spend her days curled up next to her favorite person. She just prefers a calmer environment where she can relax without worrying about someone chasing her down or pulling her tail every five seconds. (Relatable, honestly.)

We think Crissy would do best in a home with older children who understand that cats deserve kindness, patience, and personal space too.

This beautiful girl is spending the weekend at Petco in Sheridan and would LOVE to meet you! Stop by and say hello, or apply to adopt at sheridancatrescue.org/adopt 🐾

Meet Kevin.

Yes, he is as large as he appears. Possibly larger. Honestly, ā€œcatā€ feels like an undersell. Kevin is built like a small grizzly bear that learned how to purr. And because he’s a Manx, he waddles around the rescue like a fuzzy little bowling ball with opinions.

The best part? As soon as people hear his name is Kevin, they completely lose it. A fat cat named Kevin apparently sends people into orbit. Visitors start giggling immediately and ask if they can take his picture. Kevin has accidentally become a local celebrity with his own paparazzi team.

And honestly? He handles fame very well.

Kevin is sweet, social, and absolutely full of personality. He recently came to us after being diagnosed with diabetes, which unfortunately means all that extra fluff has finally caught up with him and Kevin’s pancreas has basically filed a formal complaint against the rest of his body. His previous owners loved him very much, but felt they were unable to commit to the time and medical care his treatment would require long-term, so they made the difficult decision to surrender him so he could get the help he needs.

The good news? Diabetes in cats can sometimes go into remission with proper care, weight loss, diet changes, exercise, and insulin support. We are already working on helping Kevin get healthier, and he is doing great so far!

Now he just needs a family willing to cheer him on through his ā€œbiggest loserā€ era. Whether through fostering or adoption, Kevin would love a home where he can focus on his health goals while also receiving the love, attention, and couch space he deserves.

And trust us… Kevin deserves a LOT of couch space.

If you’re interested in fostering or adopting this magnificent unit of a cat, send us a message or apply at sheridancatrescue.org/adopt ā¤

Our Featured Feline Friday is Wish!

This strikingly handsome guy originally came to us with his brother, Cruzer, as a bonded pair. But after settling into rescue life, the boys slowly evolved into the feline equivalent of brothers who love each other very much… but definitely don’t want to share a studio apartment anymore šŸ˜… They chose completely different hangout spots in the rescue, made their own friend groups, and honestly haven’t interacted in months.

Now Cruzer has officially been spoken for by one of our volunteers and will be heading home soon, and we would LOVE for Wish to get his own happy ending, too.

Wish is a big boy with an equally big heart. He loves attention, likes being involved in whatever’s happening, and has the energy of a middle-aged man supervising a home improvement project despite having absolutely no idea what’s going on. If you sit down, he’s there. If you open a cabinet, he’s inspecting it. If you’re trying to fold laundry, he will absolutely oversee operations.

He’s healthy, gets along great with other animals, and has been patiently waiting for his forever family for several months now. Honestly, Wish is in his ā€œcomfy hoodie, dinner by 5pm, emotionally available kingā€ era and deserves a home that appreciates that.

Please share and help this handsome guy finally find his people šŸ–¤

Wish is spending the weekend at Petco in Sheridan, so stop by and say hello!

Sometimes the sweetest cats end up waiting the longest šŸ’”

This beautiful little tortie mama is looking for a new home of her own. Last fall, she was rescued along with her four tiny kittens and her sister. Barely more than a kitten herself at the time, she still raised her babies like a champ — and now it’s finally her turn to be cared for.

Mama is around a year old, spayed, vaccinated for rabies, and has been dewormed. She’s a quiet, mellow house cat who would much rather curl up nearby and enjoy a peaceful home than cause chaos. She’s friendly, gentle, and has the kind of calm personality that makes you instantly feel at ease.

While she tolerates other cats from a respectful distance, she really seems happiest having her own space. If another cat gets too close, she’ll let them know with a hiss or swat that she values her personal bubble šŸ˜… Because of that, we think she would do best as an only cat, especially in a quieter home. Honestly, she would make the PERFECT companion for an older person looking for a calm little shadow to share their days with.

She is currently being cared for in a rescue home and is NOT at Second Chance Sheridan Cat Rescue, but we are helping network her to find the right match. If you’re interested in giving this sweet girl the peaceful forever home she deserves, send us a message and we’ll connect you with her caregiver ā¤ļø
