Our buildings are doing their best… but this wild weather is winning the fight, and our old structures are working harder than a beagle trying to steal a cheeseburger. Our dogs need backup. 🐶💪

We’re calling in the heroes of Pine Grove and beyond!
We are in urgent need of:

• Thick blankets
• Regular blankets
• Sheets
• Towels
• Washcloths
• Portable heaters (our buildings are older than half our volunteers’ playlists)

The cold has been brutal, and with our buildings being… let’s call them “vintage,” everything is overworking to keep our pups warm. If you’ve got spare warmth sitting in a closet, garage, or linen cabinet, our animals would be so grateful to have it.

Drop-offs can be made right at the shelter — and yes, you get bonus points, tail wags, and the satisfaction of being a certified RSMSPCA Winter Warrior. ❄️🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️

Thank you for always showing up for our animals. You’re the reason we can keep them safe, warm, and loved. ❤️

Dear Santa, please watch over the homeless animals tonight, the ones curled up against the cold with nothing but hope to keep them warm. I think of the quiet breaths taken in dark corners, of small hearts trusting that someone, somewhere, is thinking of them. They don’t ask for much, only safety, warmth, and one peaceful night without fear pressing so close.

Keep them warm and safe, and guide them gently toward a loving, forever home. Somewhere beyond the Rainbow Bridge, I believe the ones who never found that comfort here are finally at rest. And here, I say amen with a heart full of hope, trusting that kindness will answer their waiting, and that love will find them, even on the coldest night.

It has been a heartbreaking couple of days since we learned of the death of Mikayla Raines, founder of Saveafox Corporation. It was a death by su***de. There were probably many contributing factors: too much empathy, mental health issues, online bullying from trolls and "friends" alike, not to mention the pressure of creating an endless stream of compelling content, which is not for reasons of vanity but for receiving donations to give the best lives to the animals in her care.

This is all to say there are many animals in need and few rescuers. Animal rescue is difficult, back-breaking, thankless and sometimes traumatic work but you do it to make a difference in their lives and to model compassionate living. Also, because you cannot imagine a life without it. Animal rescue was not for the faint of heart ever, but add to it the endless bullying and character assassinations and the need to constantly create content to keep your expensive endeavor operating, you have the perfect storm for despair. All it takes is one more sad story, one more hostile stranger or peer, one more time you cannot accept an animal because you're past your space limitations, and that can be it.

Please, please, take care of your tender hearts and your needs. We need you and you deserve kindness, too. 🦊🦊🦊

You know what Harley was looking at?

It's the inside of a USDA approved puppy mill. This is one of the "nicer" places. Most of these cages have 2 dogs in each, but some have only 1 dog. The red box holds the food and there is an automatic watering system and the dogs drink from a tube. The floor is plastic coated wire and the waste falls through it. As with all puppy mills, the dogs get no love and no medical care. They suffer until they are about 5 or 6 years old, when they are used up, and then most of the dogs are killed - unless they are lucky enough to be rescued. If someone buys a puppy from a pet store, THIS is what they are supporting. This is a fact.
