Adopt-a-Pet is an all-volunteer dog shelter serving Mason County and the surrounding areas that has been in operation for 42 years. We are an energetic team dedicated to saving the lives of unwanted, abandoned, and abused dogs. As a 501(c) 3, non-profit organization, we rely on adoption fees, donations, grants, fundraisers, and estate bequests to continue our good work. It takes a village to save

BURGER is Dog of the Week!!
BURGER's Story
Meet BURGER! He is a 6-year-old (DOB 07/13/2020), 69 # Pit-bull / American Staffordshire Terrier mixed boy who has an amazing Blue Merle Coat!

***PITBULL - STAFFY EXPERIENCE PREFERRED/ DUE TO PREY DRIVE NO SMALL DOGS, CATS, SMALL ANIMALS OR LIVESTOCK / EATS A RAW FOOD DIET***

Burger is a smart and sweet-natured dog with a happy disposition. People are his passion! He is mellow, has a gentle mouth for treats, is goofy, and enjoys cuddles. He tends to be a quiet and tidy boy who is a fast learner. He is a great walker, jogger, enjoys car rides, and yard play especially keep away fetch!

Burger is a great companion dog, and an active family would be his best fit. He is very smart and wants to please. Children should be 13+, kind and dog savvy! He is dog selective, however needs proper introduction, and the best are submissive female playmates that are his size. No small dogs for this boy. Burger has a prey drive, no livestock, small animals, small dogs, and cats are a definite no for this active fella. A secured fenced yard is required to keep him safe and happy.

STOP SCROLLING. THIS IS CHASE.

4 YEARS. That’s how long this special boy has been waiting for his person.

Chase recently got the opportunity to become a drug-sniffing dog. And with a nose like his, he was GREAT at it. But Chase had other plans…

He chose family life. 🥹❤️

So yesterday, we gave that amazing nose a much better job: finding fun! Chase explored Bayshore Preserve, sniffed EVERYTHING, and even took a swim in the bay.

But when the adventure was over, Chase went back to the shelter.

And that’s the part we can’t stop thinking about.

After four years, he still doesn’t have a family to come home to.

Chase doesn’t need a career.
He doesn’t need a title.
He doesn’t need to be anything other than someone’s best friend.

He just needs someone to finally choose him.

Please. Share Chase. His family is out there, and after four years, we don’t want him waiting another day.

GOOSE GOT A PUPPACHINO!

Yesterday, Goose got to trade his kennel for a car ride and a BIG adventure—and let’s just say, he was ALL about it!

Our friends at Big Foot Java hooked this handsome guy up with a giant Puppachino, and Goose was living his absolute best life!

Our dogs LOVE getting to visit Big Foot Java, and we are so grateful for the smiles, love, and puppachinos they give our shelter pups.

Thank you, Big Foot Java, for making Goose’s day extra special!

Goose says 10/10 would recommend the puppachino.

🐾 ANGUS UPDATE! 🐾

Y’all might remember that Angus was accepted into the Washington State Department of Corrections dog training program with hopes of becoming a drug-sniffing dog. Talk about a pretty big opportunity for our boy!

Well… after a few weeks of training, Angus had something to say about his career path.

He let everyone know that working life just isn’t for him. He doesn’t want a job. He doesn’t want a career. He doesn’t want to climb the corporate ladder.

Angus wants to be a FAMILY DOG. ❤️

And honestly? We can’t blame him.

So Angus is back with us and back on the hunt for the job he really wants — being someone’s best friend, adventure buddy, and forever companion.

Sometimes you have to try something new to figure out exactly what you want. Angus figured it out pretty quickly.

Now he just needs a family who will give him the happily-ever-after he’s been waiting for.

MEET BEAST! This sweet Husky boy is patiently waiting for his turn. The name says Beast… his heart says teddy bear.

At just 1 year old and 57 lbs, Beast is loving, smart, playful, and eager to please. He loves trail walks, car rides, toys, playtime, and being right beside his people. He’s dog-social and would love an active family ready for adventures!

But here’s the part that breaks our hearts… 💔 His siblings, Balto and Bella, have both started home visits. Beast is watching them go and wondering when it will finally be his turn.

MEET TRIGGER! Our VOLUNTEER FAVORITE is STILL WAITING! 🥺 This 3-year-old, 76 # PitBull is the happiest, wiggliest boy who loves people, adventures, walks, car rides, and learning new things!

And guess what?! Trigger is EXTREMELY dog social! He has absolutely blown us away with how much he enjoys his dog friends.

So WHY has this amazing boy had so little interest?! 😭

CESAR is Dog of the Week!!

Meet CESAR! He is an 8-year-old (DOB 08/13/2018), 102 #, Akita/Australian Kelpie mixed boy who is looking for his family home!

***SPECIAL NEEDS DOG EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. CESAR IS BLIND SINCE PUPPYHOOD - HIT BY CAR***

Cesar is a sweet boy who is loving and friendly! He is very smart with a great nose to guide him through life. He has good leash manners and knows the basic commands sit and shake. We have found he is a fast learner and wants to please. He enjoys his trail walks and has supervision in the play yard. Cesar must be leashed to you until he knows his new environment, house, and yard. He also hopes the furniture does not get rearranged! He is curious and smart! He enjoys car rides and keeps a tidy kennel. He really enjoys lounging on his plush floor beds with his chew bone and is totally a couch potato. Although 102 #, Cesar believes he is a lap dog! He will alert when someone is approaching. To quote the Vet "He is a Beautifully Natured Dog"

Cesar is a great companion and family dog whose best fit is with a family that has Special Needs experience. He has successfully lived with children from Toddler to Teen. Cesar is dog social and lived with Labrador's. Cat's and other small animals are unknown. Someone home all the time is very comforting for him. A secure fenced yard is required to keep him safe and happy!
