Watch for these:

Pulling hard on the leash every single walk,

Ignoring recall in any environment outside the house,

Shutting down completely when corrected.

But 9 times out of 10, the dog isn't defiant.

They're confused by inconsistent cues, different environments,
or mixed signals from different family members 🐶

A tilted head or uncertain posture isn't attitude.

Maybe it’s walking without pulling. Staying calm when guests arrive.
Coming when called. Or simply listening when distractions are everywhere.

Here's what most people don't know about how dogs actually learn:
🧠 Dogs repeat what works. If jumping gets attention, they'll keep jumping. Every. Single. Time.
🧠 Timing is everything. A correction or reward given even 2 seconds late loses its meaning completely.
🧠 Consistency IS the training. Your dog isn't confused by the commands; they're confused by the mixed signals.
🧠 Stress blocks learning. A dog in fight-or-flight mode cannot absorb new information, no matter how hard you try.
