I always smile when people act like being home with children is some kind of endless break, because the days I spend caring for my kids are anything but easy. My body is tired, my mind is constantly moving, and there isn't a clock that tells me when my shift is finally over. I've learned that the work mothers do often goes unnoticed until someone has to step in and carry the same responsibilities. Then suddenly, everyone understands the value of the invisible things we've been doing all along. I don't need applause, but I do appreciate finally seeing this kind of recognition. 😂

We live in a culture where correction often feels like attack. Where feedback bruises the ego instead of shaping the person.

But if we can't be corrected without being offended, we don't grow — we just protect our pride at the expense of our progress.

That's why this lesson matters so much for our children. And it starts with us.

When they watch us own our mistakes instead of deflecting... when they hear us say "you're right, I could have done better there" instead of scrambling for excuses... when they see us receive guidance without bristling, they learn that correction isn't humiliation — it's refinement.

But discernment matters too.

Not every opinion carries wisdom. Not every piece of advice deserves action. Growth doesn't mean obeying every voice; it means learning to listen, to weigh, to consider — and then choosing wisely what to carry forward.

Correction given with care is not a threat — it's a gift. And advice, even when it doesn't fit, can sharpen our perspective if we're willing to hear it without offence.

That's the skill worth passing on. Because children who grow up seeing feedback as opportunity — not condemnation — will always have the freedom to keep evolving into more of who they're meant to be. ❀

Footage from 2001 showing a 19-year-old Beyoncé seated on producer Marc Schaffel's lap while being introduced to Michael Jackson by phone has gone viral

The video was filmed for a scrapped reality project Schaffel produced centred on Jackson and his circle. Beyoncé was in the studio at the time recording Jackson's post-September 11 charity single, What More Can I Give, a project that brought together several major artists to raise funds for victims of the att+cks.

Schaffel is heard in the footage saying "Alright, here we go. You want to sit on? You want to make this easier? You can sit on my lap," before telling Jackson, "I have Beyoncé sitting on my lap, and I will put you on speakerphone."

Court testimony in 2006 later revealed that Jackson cut ties with Schaffel after discovering he had previously directed adult films. The charity single was never officially released due to Jackson's legal troubles.

Beyoncé appeared visibly overwhelmed after being told Jackson was "an incredible fan" of hers, responding, "Don't tell me that."
