Please book those appointments to get your pets up to date on their Rabies vaccine. The risk is still around. Rabies is deadly. Don’t put yourself, your family, your community, and your pets at risk.

The Shelby County Health Department (SCHD) announced Tuesday that lab tests confirmed a bat tested positive for rabies.

Nature is nature. We do more harm than good when intervening.

Please follow the INDR instructions on wildlife.

As the weather warms up and more people head outside, IDNR is reminding everyone to leave young birds and other animals alone when they encounter them in the wild.

Well-intentioned people may believe they’re helping nature by taking possession of young rabbits, fawn deer, baby birds and other animals that appear to be orphaned or abandoned. However, in nearly all cases, human intervention does more to hurt animals than to help. Young birds and animals are still being fed and cared for by their parents, who usually stay away from nests and dens if humans are nearby.

Almost 6 weeks Hank has been with us. 😔

He has a great personality and just wants to be your friend. He is ready to tag along to all the cookouts this summer or chill in the back yard and play with the kids. ☀️

Let’s get Hank adopted this week!!

🐱 It’s Kitten Season! 🐱

Every spring and summer, animal shelters and rescues experience an overwhelming influx of kittens. While tiny kittens are adorable, kitten season puts tremendous strain on shelters, fosters, and community resources.

If you find kittens outdoors, please remember:
🐾 Mom may be nearby caring for them. Unless they are sick, injured, or in immediate danger, observe from a distance before intervening.
🐾 Spaying and neutering is the most effective way to prevent unwanted litters.
🐾 Foster homes are often desperately needed to help save vulnerable kittens.
🐾 Community support through donations, volunteering, and sharing adoptable animals makes a huge difference.

Together, we can help reduce overpopulation and give every kitten the best chance at a healthy life.

If you’re interested in fostering, adopting, volunteering, or learning more about Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), please reach out to us!

❤️ Please share to help spread awareness during kitten season.

Hank has been passed up over and over again and we just don’t know why!

He’s the perfect combination of play and love. He is smart and wants to learn. He loves his Kong treats and that keeps him busy most of the day.

Hank is a neutered male mixed-breed dog under a year old, and he’s quickly becoming the office favorite! With his beautiful coloring and lovable personality, it’s easy to see why everyone falls for him.

✅ Good with kids
✅ Good with dogs
✅ Good with most cats
✅ Loves toys and playtime

Hank is the perfect combination of fun and laid-back. He’s always ready for an adventure, a game of fetch, or playtime with his favorite toys. After a day of fun, he’s happy to relax and hang out by your side at evening cookouts.

This handsome boy is ready to find a family of his own. Let’s get Hank adopted!

Please share this post far and wide to help Hank find his forever home. ❤️🐾
