I guess it’s about time….

We introduce our newest team member, Maddie! She has hit the ground running and been an incredible blessing to our instructor team, bringing a wealth of knowledge, patience, and encouragement for our students. Here is the little bio she wrote up for us so you can get to know her better 😁

Hello! My name is Maddie Hanback and I have grown up in Canton, Georgia and have been training as a competitive hunter, jumper and equitation rider for fourteen years. In High School, I joined the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) as a member of Mount Pisgah Christian School’s equestrian team. I has competed for four years in the Hunt Seat division and have enjoyed showing in the 2’6” class. Additionally, I have spent the last two summers working at ranches in Wyoming. Currently, I am a junior at Middle Tennessee State University and am majoring in Horse Science. I am also apart of the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) team and enjoy showing hunt seat. I am very excited to be working at Blue Horse Riding and thank all of you for the opportunity to be apart of this wonderful barn family.

Help me welcome Maria to the Blue Horse Instructor team! We are so blessed to have her!

Maria Dorrill brings over 15 years of diverse experience in the equine industry, with a strong foundation in both English and Western disciplines. Her expertise spans Hunter, Jumper, and Classical Spanish Dressage, with additional experience in Reining and the Western performance world.

Maria specializes in the development of both horse and rider through a biomechanics-based approach, emphasizing harmony, communication, and physical correctness. Her teaching methods are deeply influenced by the philosophies of Klaus Hempfling and Manolo Mendez, focusing on the integration of natural horsemanship, in-hand work, and the art of “dancing with the horse.”

With a particular talent for working with young and challenging horses, Maria has built a reputation for cultivating trust, balance, and mutual respect in the training process. She incorporates holistic techniques, including homeopathic remedies and equine bodywork, to support the physical and emotional well-being of both horse and rider, aiming to create a seamless connection between the two.

In addition to her equestrian credentials, Maria has a background in law enforcement and is certified in First Aid, CPR, and crisis response. She currently shares her life with three dogs, a horse, and a very supportive fiancé.

I have been so giddy about this one!

Meet Jessie!
The newest addition to the Blue Horse herd hopped off the trailer and acted like she’s lived here all of her life. We are so excited for our students to get to know this precious little mare!

Thank you Sweet Tea Sporthorses for connecting us with this sweet girl and being such an honest and helpful consigner to work with! And thank you as well to King’s Coach Equine Transport for getting her to us safely!

The show must go on!

When we heard that the show our western students were planning to attend was cancelled, Lori worked hard to still provide a great learning opportunity for everyone. Our wonderful group of students and moms were all hands on deck, and we had a great little fun show.

Thank you, Lori, for your dedication to seeing these students grow in their horsemanship!
