It’s been a minute since I have posted anything on social media. The reason for that is this Lyme disease thing has been kicking my rear end. I’ve been on Doxycycline for several weeks now but having to see several medical professionals before someone would treat it, the bacteria is in my joints (knees and hips) and I’ve been told it’s a pretty long road to full recovery from where I am at.

The joint pain is relentless, it just never really stops, sometimes it’s bearable and I can go pretty normally, other days getting out of bed and walking to the kitchen is dang near impossible.

It’s been tough because I am usually always doing something, I’m either working with the dogs, working around the kennel, cutting grass and other yard work, always something going on. It’s been hard not being able to do life like normal.

I have to thank my wife, Nicole, for putting up with me and helping me so much. I’ve been rather moody due to the pain and the fact I hate not being able to do things like I want to and she is the one that has to deal with my moods. I also have to thank McKenna and Melanie for really stepping up and getting a lot of work done with the dogs; they have truly kept things going.

For me it’s kind of day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute as to what all I can do. Who knew a dang tick bite could make your body hurt so bad. It’s kind of crazy how I would average walking around 8 miles a day to some days not being able to walk 25ft. to the bathroom without needing a cane or leaning against the wall to keep stable.

Lyme disease is no joke, that’s what I have learned through all this. In the meantime, we will keep moving forward and look forward to getting back to normal as soon as possible.

Just walked in the door from North Georgia HRC. We brought home our newest Hunting Retriever Champion, HRCH Dixie. It started pouring rain as soon as I pulled up to the kennel, so the photos will come tomorrow. Congratulations to Shawn Swindell and his first HRCH dog.

Well, the Grand running order is posted. Looks like Deacon and I will kick things off for Flight B. I guess we will show the rest of the flight how to run it, or how to NOT run it.

National Dog Day, let’s take it back to the OG who started all this nonsense for me; Hershey. I had no clue that little chocolate dog would change the direction of my life.

Monday and Tuesday’s morning set ups. Land was Monday. Throw Mark 1 as a single. Mark 2 was a fake throw (No See Mark)the bird was planted when dog was coming back from Mark 1. So shoot the gun with the fake throw and then get the dog to settle in on its line and send. No handling on this Mark, used gunner help if needed. This was to simulate the “go as sent” on a bird they may not see (Grand Prep). The idea is to get them comfortable and confident on a mark they don’t see, take my line, find the gun station and work the problem out by knowing the bird will be near the gun station.

Tuesday water was a triple with a blind, nothing fancy or crazy, pretty straight up. We did dictate order of pick up as 3,1,2.

Gonna be another hot one today, but at least it’s starting out pretty.

Good info on bandaging. Probably the best way I’ve ever heard as far as how much stretch to put on vet wrap. Cast padding for comfort and to avoid the vet wrap rubbing a raw spot and Elastikon to keep the dog from being able to easily chew it off.
