Paradise Paws is looking for a dependable, hardworking, and animal-loving person to join our small grooming team!
Paradise Paws is a one-on-one grooming shop focused on providing a calm, safe, and positive experience for every dog that walks through the door. Iβm looking for someone who takes pride in their work, is comfortable working with dogs of all sizes and personalities, and is willing to learn and grow.
Responsibilities may include:
* Bathing dogs using the appropriate shampoos and products
* Drying dogs safely and thoroughly
* Brushing and combing coats
* Nail trimming and grinding
* Ear cleaning
* Basic paw pad/sanitary trimming depending on experience
* Helping safely handle and restrain dogs when needed
* Cleaning and disinfecting tub, tables, kennels, tools, and work areas
* Sweeping, mopping, doing laundry, and helping keep the shop clean and organized
* Preparing bandanas/accessories and helping with other daily shop tasks
* Providing gentle, patient care to every dog
What to Expect:
Working with animals is incredibly rewarding, but it is not always sunshine and rainbows. This is a hands-on, physical job, and you should expect to:
* Get wet, hairy, dirty, and slobbered on
* Clean up occasional messes such as p*e, p**p, or vomit
* Work with dogs who may be nervous, wiggly, loud, stubborn, or difficult to handle
* Spend a lot of time standing, bending, lifting, bathing, drying, and cleaning
* Be comfortable in a fast-paced, sometimes messy environment
If you love animals but donβt want to get dirty, this probably is not the job for you. But if you enjoy hands-on work, have patience, and love helping dogs look and feel their best, it can be a very rewarding job.
The ideal candidate:
* Is dependable and shows up on time
* Has a strong work ethic and pays attention to detail
* Is comfortable around dogs of different breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments
* Is patient and compassionate with nervous or difficult dogs
* Is able to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing for long periods and lifting dogs when necessary
* Is willing to learn and take direction
* Works well independently and as part of a small team
* Understands that the dogsβ safety and comfort always come first
Previous grooming or animal-care experience is a plus, but I am willing to train the right person.
There may also be opportunities to learn additional grooming skills and grow within Paradise Paws for someone who is interested in pursuing grooming long-term.
Schedule:
Monday-Wednesday: 8:30-5
Thursday: 1-7
2 Saturdays a month 9-2
