Drew Barrymore just turned selfies into lifesavers.

The actress has teamed up with Ring to launch the Ring Pet Portraits Campaign, aiming to raise $500,000 for animal shelters across the U.S.

Pet parents can join in by posting their pets’ photos or videos with - every post helps donate $10 to the ASPCA and local shelters.

One lucky pet will even get the chance to star in a Ring commercial, handpicked by Drew herself.

In the campaign video, she appears with her rescue dog Douglas, her cat Lucky, and her bearded dragon Jeremy, showing her true love for all animals.

Together with the ASPCA, Drew’s mission is simple - to give more animals the safe, happy homes they deserve.

Because sometimes, doing good is as easy as sharing your pet’s best photo.

Dog is family, not property, and now the law finally agrees.

In a historic 2025 ruling, a New York judge officially recognized pets as “immediate family”, marking a powerful step toward treating animals with the respect and love they deserve.

The case involved a Dachshund named Duke, who was tragically killed after being hit by a car while out on a walk. His guardian’s mother, Nan DeBlase, witnessed the heartbreaking accident and filed a lawsuit for emotional distress — something that was never before allowed when it came to pets.

For years, the law saw dogs as property, no different from furniture or a car. But Judge Aaron Maslow’s decision changed that, stating it’s “reasonable for a jury to conclude that witnessing the death of a beloved companion pet causes genuine emotional distress.”

Animal advocates are calling it a groundbreaking moment. Christopher Berry of the Nonhuman Rights Project said it represents a vital shift in how society views animals — not as objects, but as living, feeling family members.

While the ruling applies only to specific cases like Duke’s, it opens the door to a new era of compassion in the legal system.

Because to those who’ve ever loved a dog, the truth has always been simple — they’re family, and always have been.

Lawmakers have officially passed a statewide ban on cat declawing, putting an end to a practice that left countless pets in pain for decades.

Declawing isn’t a “nail trim.” It’s an amputation that removes part of a cat’s toes, often leaving them with lifelong pain, behavioral issues, or difficulty walking. Now, California has said enough.

Animal advocates and veterinarians are celebrating, calling this one of the biggest wins for feline welfare in years. The new law ensures that cats will be protected from unnecessary procedures done for human convenience.

With this change, California joins a growing movement pushing for kinder, more humane treatment of pets.

A victory long overdue — and a win every cat deserves.
