Maya’s Place will be offering the following training classes. S.T.A.R Puppy, Canine Good Citizen, Canine Good Citizen Urban, Advanced Alumni and Therapy Dog Certification.
Classes will range from 45 minutes to an hour long. There will be six sessions with an optional 7th session for testing. We require proof of Rabies & Distemper to sign up for classes. Please bring small training treats and a standard leash. Please no flexi leashes.
S.T.A.R Puppy July 7th (Tuesday 5:30pm) 7/14, 7/21, 7/28, 8/4, 8/11,8/18
Instructor: Barb Assisting: Riley
Description: Your pup must be 7 months or younger to attend puppy class. This class is a great opportunity to start socializing your canine and working on those basic manners. This class will cover those beginning stages with your pup and will have many fun activities for your pup to do. There is an optional 7th session for testing with no additional fee.
Therapy Dog Certification July 9th (Thursday 6:00pm) 7/16,7/23,7/30,8/6,8/13,8/20

Description: Have you ever thought about becoming a therapy dog team? This class is designed for dogs who have previously completed obedience training and are ready to begin working in real-world environments. Handlers and their dogs will learn to work together as a team while practicing appropriate interactions with the public. The course will include visits to local facilities and preparation for therapy dog certification. All dogs must be at least one year old at the time of testing. A standard 4-foot leash is required for this course. An additional $20 fee is required for a background check through the certification organization.
Advanced Alumni July 11th (Saturday 9am) 7/18,725,8/1,8/8,8/15,8/22

Description: This class was developed for pups who have passed through intermediate class. The six sessions will be personalized for the group of dogs in the class. If you are interested in continuing to have fun working with your dog, polishing old skills, and learning new ones, this is the class for you.
Canine Good Citizen July 11th (Saturday 10am) 7/18,7/25,8/1,8/8,8/15,8/22

Description: This class is a great option if you want to start classes and your pup is over a year old. Canine Good Citizen covers your basic obedience. This class will go over proper walking on leash with your pup, sits, stay, down, recalls, and proper greetings to other pups and people. There is an optional 7th session for testing. Testing fee is $10
Canine Good Citizen Urban July 11th (Saturday 11:30am) 7/18,7/25,8/1,8/8,8/15,8/22

Description: This advanced-level course is designed for dogs who have already completed their CGC and are ready to take their manners into the real world. The Canine Good Citizen Urban (CGCU) class focuses on preparing your dog to handle busy environments such as sidewalks, shops, and public buildings with confidence and control. Each week, we'll challenge your pup with a new environment. We'll also reinforce essential obedience skills with increasing levels of distraction and complexity.
Please Note: This is a closed admission class. Dogs must have completed at least two prior group training classes with Maya's Place. This ensures that all participants have a solid foundation of manners, making them appropriate and successful candidates for this real-world training environment. There is an optional 7th session for testing. The testing fee is $10
