Howl you doin'? Grooming

Howl you doin'? Grooming Offering grooming services for your pets. I'm an avid animal lover, part-time Beautician/Barber since 1995 and in-home childcare provider since 2000.

Half of my current group of kids will be leaving me for school this coming September! I will miss them terribly but have decided to continue on with the remaining ones until they've aged out. My hope is to take these last couple years with them as an opportunity to build my client base in the grooming world. By the time all of the kids have left me, I will be ready to groom full-time! My life is f

ull of hobbies. I've been sewing since childhood. You'll often find me under a stack of alterations. Shortening pants, skirts and dresses are my most common fix, but I can fix just about anything on a sewing machine or by hand. I've made dresses out of wedding gowns, curtains, hooded kids towels and a plethora of random "let's see if I can make that" things. A few summers ago, I learned how to crochet. Arguably, not my favorite hobby, but I'm good at it and it definitely used up time if I find myself bored. Recently, I delved into the world of hand knitting with jumbo yarn, and I absolutely LOVE doing it! I've made numerous blankets for raffle donations and gifts and always cannot wait for the next shipment of yarn to come in. I'm pretty adept at building decks and fences! Time spent with my dad has taught me how to do just about anything by myself. There's such a sense of accomplishment in standing back to look at the final product and say, "Heck yeah, I built that!"

I've been doing hair on human heads since high school graduation. Cuts, colors, perms and locs are all skills in my pocket! I love to work on feet the most though. I travel to quite a few clients to help them keep their feet in shape. I fix ingrown toenails and sand tough calluses, polish if they want to feel beautiful under their socks, and massage to make them melt in their chair! It's time for me to devote some time to the animals I adore!

Mr. RIP...got to make my new table work tonight! It was AWESOME! For the first time, I was able to have him stand still and give him a complete groom. What a treat!

Tonight! I got to work with this "juvenile delinquent." His mom warned me he'd fight me with everything. Let me tell you something. Dogs are like toddlers. Naughty for their parents!

I got Otis up on my table and he had the audacity to lay down with his front feet hanging off the edge and stayed there until I was done using the grinder on his nails! He was so good and I was all prepared to have to wrestle him!

Anyway...Otis, the 9 month old English Cream. I'm smitten!

Your dog does NOT have to be perfect for the groomer.

Please hear this one.

Your dog doesn’t have to stand perfectly.

Your puppy doesn’t have to know how grooming works yet.

Your senior dog doesn’t have to have the balance or patience they had five years ago.

Your nervous dog is allowed to be nervous.

And if life got crazy and your dog’s coat got away from you, you don’t have to sit in the driveway embarrassed to bring them through my door.

Bring me the dog.

We’ll start where we are.

We’ll figure out what is safest and most comfortable for the dog standing in front of me today.

Sometimes that means the beautiful haircut you pictured.

Sometimes it means we shave the mats and start fresh.

Sometimes it means we modify the groom.

And sometimes success simply means your dog leaves cleaner, more comfortable and a little more trusting than when they came in.

That’s why I believe in Humanity Over Vanity.

Dogs aren’t machines. Owners aren’t perfect. Groomers aren’t perfect.

We’re all just doing the best we can with what we know today.

And when we know better…

we can do better. ❤️

No judgment. Just education, compassion and moving forward.

Meet Bailey the English Cream. Soon to be a service dog in training. He didn't love anything about his groom, but he sure was a sweetheart!

I did it! Last night, I groomed my first cat! She was very mellow and well mannered. I can't even say she silently planned my death. What an accomplishment for me!
