This is a wonderful opportunity for pet owners whose companions have not yet been microchipped. Fireworks and other loud holiday noises can be incredibly stressful for pets, and frightened animals may run off while trying to find a safe place to hide.

A microchip can provide an added layer of protection and greatly improve the chances of being reunited if your pet becomes lost. Keeping their collar tags and microchip information up to date is one of the best ways to help them find their way back home. 🐾❤️

Along with so many that gave the ultimate sacrifice in the service of others on this dark day, we take time to remember our four legged friends who spent countless hours and days searching for the slightest signs of life in the days following the attacks.

Many of these dogs handlers reported significant depression in their pups after the incident due to their low success rate of finding live victims.

The last dog that served at ground zero passed away in 2016 at the age of 16.
