Mama Llama ACCT-A-247962 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Mama Llama must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by WEDNESDAY, MAY 13TH at 10AM. Should Mama Llama's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change.
Mama Llama is a joyful, goofy, high-energy girl who lives life at full speed and loves every second of it. This social butterfly is always ready for an adventure, whether that means zooming around the play yard, rolling in the grass, chasing toys, or soaking up affection from her favorite people. Volunteers consistently describe her as sweet, cuddly, playful, and so much fun to spend time with.
Mama Llama is the kind of dog who greets the world with full-body wiggles and excitement. She can be a little pull-y on leash because she’s just so happy to get outside and explore, but once she gets some energy out, she settles in beautifully and turns into an affectionate cuddle bug. She loves pets, enjoys sitting nicely for treats, and checks in often with her handler during walks. She already knows “sit” and is very food motivated, making her a great candidate for continued training.
In the yard, Mama Llama’s playful personality truly shines. She loves stuffed toys, zoomies, and romping around with enthusiasm. She has participated in playgroups and has shown she can be social with other dogs, especially those who enjoy rough-and-rowdy, high-energy play styles. Because she gets very excited and likes to play hard, she may do best with dog friends who can match her energy and appreciate her exuberant personality.
Mama Llama is looking for an active home that will embrace her zest for life while continuing to help her with leash manners and channeling all that puppy-like energy into positive outlets. Underneath all the excitement is a loving, affectionate dog with a huge heart who simply wants to have fun and be close to her people.
If you’re searching for a happy-go-lucky adventure buddy who will keep you laughing, moving, and loved, Mama Llama is ready to meet you!

Per volunteer 4/24: Medium-high energy.
Per volunteer 4/22: High energy.
Per volunteer 4/21: Medium energy. Pulls a little. Checks in with handler a lot. Sweet, fun, walks nice but can pull. Can get a little crazy with other dogs.
Per volunteer 5/3: I just took out mama llama. She was easy to leash, pulls a little bit while on leash due to being g so happy to get out to the play yard. She was so much fun, playing with stuffed animals and rolling in the grass. Very friendly towards me and loved to be pet. She returned easily to her kennel
Per volunteer 5/1/26 "I had mama llama out last evening. SHe was very good. It was easy to leash her, she does pull to get out to the play yard, I would say she's between medium or high energy. She ran around and played in the yard and then settled down and she was very cuddly. She sat right next to me and let me pet her all over. She sat nice for treats, and just overall is a great dog."
Per volunteer 4/29/26: Mama llama was very happy to come out of her kennel last night. She appears to be house-trained because she did her business as soon as she came out. She does pull a little bit on the leash, but that was just because she was excited to be getting outside to the play yard. She was very playful & fun. She sat really nice for treats. She loved pets! She also had a very nice fence meet with another dog.
Per volunteer 4/28/26:
Meet Mamas
Mamas is a sweet, fun-loving girl with a playful personality and a love for attention. She enjoys being around people, going for walks, and spending time outside. Mamas has a moderate to higher energy level and can be a little pull-y on leash at times, but she’s manageable and eager to engage. She has done well in playgroup and has shown she can get along with other dogs, though she may need a little warm-up time. With her affectionate nature and playful spirit, Mamas would thrive in an active home that can give her exercise, attention, and continued guidance.

4/20: Pulls a bit on leash, manageable

Per volunteer 4/25: Asphalt and Mama Llama both have high energy play style. Mama Llama more than Asphalt. I think Mama Llama was just so high energy and so excited to get out and play that it came across as too much at times.
Per volunteer 4/25: Ezra and Mama Llama had to end playgroup session a little early. Mama Llama really wants to play hard with high energy. Ezra loves to play but Mama Llama was just too much.
Ezra showed great tolerance with Mama Llama.
Per staff 4/23/26: Meet Mama Llama (ACCT-A-247962)! This happy, high-energy girl is looking for an active family to keep up with her fun-loving personality. If you are searching for a dog who is always ready for an adventure and has a permanent case of the "zoomies," Mama Llama might be your perfect match.
Mama Llama is a social butterfly who absolutely loves people. She is known at the shelter for her "puppy-like" energy—she’s often so excited to say hello that she’ll wiggle her whole body and jump up to give you soft, panting greetings. She already knows how to "Sit" and is very motivated by treats, which makes her a great candidate for continued training.
In the yard, Mama Llama is a total joy to watch. She loves to chase toys and explore every nook and cranny. While she is still working on her leash manners (she’s a strong girl who likes to zig-zag and investigate everything!), she has a heart of gold and just wants to be where the action is. After she’s burned off some of her signature energy, she’s happy to soak up all the pets and attention you can give her.
Mama Llama has also spent some time in playgroups with other dogs, where she showed off her rowdy and playful side. She is looking for a home that appreciates her zest for life and can provide her with the exercise and mental stimulation she craves. If you’re ready for a lifetime of laughs and active fun, come meet Mama Llama today!
Per staff 4/20:
Kennel Presentation: Jumping up on bars. Panting, ears forward, wagging tail. Opened the kennel door and she continued jumping up towards me with soft eyes and panting. It took a while to get her leashed as she was jumping and pushed. A few times I accidentally got her leg and neck; she had no problem with me adjusting.
Leash Skills: Pulls strongly on leash, zig-zags. Was jumping towards other kennels and vocalizing. Outside also barked towards other dogs.
Sociability: Mostly had zoomies around the yard. Allowed me to get a few pets in but did not sit still long. Experienced no mouthiness. Was unable to see how she took treats as she was getting surgery that day.
Play: Would chase after toys but never took possession.
Dog Interaction: N/A
Return to Kennel: Pulling and barking towards other dogs' kennels. Allowed me to clip her leash with some looking back. Walked right into the kennel.
Color Level: Experienced blue
Recommendations and considerations: Making experienced blue due to energy level, leash behavior, and dog reactivity.
Per staff 4/18: Was a little mouthy during adoption meet. Not hard mouthing but puppy energy mouthing. Was chewing on everyone's arms a little bit but would also use her canines to pull the adopters around.
Per staff 4/17: Playgroup 4/17: Steerable with water and shake can (3/5). Aroused during gate greetings, especially in response to barking from Dru. On entry, immediately greeted Labello with a high tail then shortly after leapt into bounding around, some push/pull and (attempts at) rough/rowdy play. Engaged in push/pull play with Hazel and Labello. Was corrected by Bosco for space with a quick bark, which she heard and respected.
Per staff 4/17: Finder confirmed no behavioral concerns, dog is very friendly just really energetic. While in intake she was very friendly. Understands command "Sit" and excited for treats.
Per finder 4/17: She was found walking on trail and was described as being very active with children. The finder was able to walk her on leash and described her as being very wild and active. They noted that she scratches a lot and described her as being overall playful and aggressive (but did not provide additional details).
