Then don’t watch this video. Some public opinion is oh that’s soo cool and want to watch trainer videos of them breaking horses and the horses going bonkers. And yes sometimes that happens! Mostly with unstarted or problem horses. However the goal shouldn’t be let’s get this horse in that’s never seen a saddle and tack it up and jump on and cowboy it out. Atleast that’s not how we do it here at Buck Right. We build trust. We build confidence. We teach them things aren’t scary and how to process before reacting. We WANT boring videos. That means we’ve done our job right.
Now every horse has a different learning style and every trainer has their own training style. There are times a horse and trainer don’t mix. They don’t understand each other or whatever the case may be. And while that’s unfortunate it does happen. But it’s the same way you hear of people not “bonding” or getting along with the horse they just purchased.. or you trying a different school for your child because one school just didn’t understand his IEP, etc. It’s not necessarily the trainers fault or the horses fault, it just happens.
However, In this video you’ll see pieces of the 5th session we’ve had with this horse in a span of about 8 days, so yes he’s had some days off. This video is the very first ride under saddle. Now this little 2.5 year old Fresian - Warmblood cross has seen a saddle before, he has been handled since birth and taught manners. But the last time his owners asked anything of him was Fall of 2025. Some horses are just born with good brains. He’s calm, patient, and so willing to learn. Super excited to see where we can get with him in just 30 days!
