This post is specifically about our lesson horseback riding classes. To see where you and/or your child would fit in to pick the right class.
PRE Cowboys and Cowgirls/ TINY TOT= 3-6yo with a parent, come spend some time with our horses! brush them, lead them around, sit on them, and even walk around if you're up for it! This is a 30 min class.
Beginners = 7YO + welcome to our farm! We will teach you how to groom and do ground work, riding at walk and light trotting, learning to post, learning to steer and stop, learn to mount and dismount with help then progress to doing this solo. Ground work for being able to not only handle my lesson horses, but for horses in your future. This class is all ba****ck.
Advanced beginner = ready to trot, just need more practice to get our post down! if forced you can probably get on yourself, but prefer help, the confidence is coming... Can handle 95% of the ground work asked to do. This class is half ba****ck and in saddle to learn how to tack up properly.
Intermediate= able to do all beginner tasks plus walk/trot/ fast trot able to post learning to really steer and control horse at a trot, able to catch your horse and do all the grooming and ground work on. your own with little to no help. Usually mid way through this class students are getting ready to have their own horse with guidance, whether it is leasing or horse ownership.
Advanced= able to do all above tasks plus walk/trot/fast trot able to control any horse at a trot and ready to learn the canter. Students are ready to find your niche and start practicing them; will it be trails, cattle, endurance, jumping, speed, Ready to hit the trails! In this class you're working to control all parts of the horses body. Are you able to move the shoulders over, move the hip over, and then to more difficult maneuvers.
Semi privates= I am the solo instructor for these as I will only have three students! Very small intense class! For this class you're able to do all intermediate tasks, you arrive on time, get your assigned horse, groom, tack up, and able to meet me in the arena! I will likely be around the barn for class prep, watching and being sure horses and students are paying attention to their horses and being good horsemen and their horses are behaving, but in general you must be able to do this all on your own! I will double check all your work and get to ground work in the arena and riding! I coach each person individually and then "float" from one student to the next, it is a great option to learn what others are learning my listening to what I'm teaching them along with what your specifically learning and practicing while I move to the next student β₯οΈ. I am absolutely in love with teaching these classes which I just started in spring 2025 and happy to continue them!
When classes are posted on this page you pick a day/time that suites you then send me a pm, I will pencil you in for that class (if it is still available). We meet once a week for the duration of the season, payment is due first day of class. Classes have up to 6 students there are 2 coaches per class. In each class we will catch the horse, groom (I have grooming supplies) including hooves, ba****ck pad on or saddle on, ground work, and ride. Some classes are on the ground to work on skills, most we ride.
You will need cowboy boots, horseback riding helmet, and dress in jeans/leggings. Always dress for the weather we may be inside or outside, but no heat here! Wear layers :)
As the classes fill up I'll try to post right away. Always best to send a pm to know your preferred time.
Make ups or no shows: payments are due for the group of classes you sign up for before the season begins, we do not issue refunds if you can not make it, the lesson horse your child was assigned to for class is here for them as well as our two coaches. I will allow one make up class for the season, they can pop into another group if that is available OR do a private lesson and pay the difference if that is available.
Thank you!
