Despite everything she has been through, Missy's happy disposition shines through. Just walk into the room and she'll greet you with enthusiastic tail (and butt!) wags. Even if you've never met Missy before, you're her friend the moment she lays eyes on you. 🥹

Missy is a laid-back, 4-year-old girl who is simply looking for a forever home where she can be with her people—whether that's going for walks, taking car rides, or just relaxing together at home.

It's clear that Missy has been bred far more times than any dog ever should be. Her body tells a story of a life spent giving to others, likely without much love in return. But somehow, Missy hasn't let that dim her spirit one bit. She still greets each day with joy, love, and hope that her own family is out there waiting for her. 💔

🚨WE DESPERATELY NEED VOLUNTEERS🚨

Blue River runs almost entirely because of volunteers. Without them, we simply could not care for the dogs and cats who need us. Life gets busy, school lets out — and right now, we are critically looking for more people to join our team. 💙

The good news? Volunteering is much easier and more flexible than most people think.
✨ Commitments can be as little as 4 hours per month
✨ We provide all training
✨ Volunteer with dogs, cats, or both
✨ Flexible scheduling
✨ No prior rescue experience required

Whether you're walking dogs, socializing cats, helping at events, cleaning kennels, or simply spending time with animals who need love, every hour makes a difference.

And while our animals benefit from volunteers, volunteers benefit too. 🥹

We have a confession to make...😂

We gave some of our adoptable dogs curly wigs this week to see if looking a little more like a "doodle" might finally get them the attention they deserve. 🤭

Because let's be honest—doodles are one of the most requested dog types we hear about. But here's the thing:

The dogs pictured here are already amazing.

They don't need fancy haircuts, trendy breed labels, or curly wigs to be worthy of love.

They're loyal companions, adventure buddies, professional cuddle experts, and future best friends. Some have waited weeks. Some have waited months. All of them deserve a family just as much as any doodle does. And almost all of them have ZERO applications.

So while we hope their new hairstyles got your attention, we really hope you'll take a second look at the incredible dogs underneath the curls. 🥹

This weekend, we're asking you to look beyond breed, beyond appearance, and beyond trends. Come meet these pups and see them for who they are. They have waited too long to be noticed. We need THIS WEEK to be their week!
