One More Sleep, Sweet Fern
One more sleep, sweet little Fern,
Then comes the day for which we’ve yearned.
A brand-new chapter waits for you,
With loving arms and adventures new.
From your first tiny days in our care,
You’ve filled our home with love everywhere.
We’ve watched you grow, we’ve watched you play,
And loved you more with every day.
We taught you, held you, watched you explore,
And somehow each day we loved you more.
Your little paws left prints on our floor,
But the ones on our hearts will last evermore.
Tomorrow you’ll meet your forever family,
The ones who have waited so patiently.
They’ll learn your kisses, your cuddles, your ways,
And fall more in love with you each passing day.
There may be a tear when I say goodbye,
And I already know exactly why—
Because raising you was never “just” what I do;
A little piece of my heart goes home with you.
So tonight, sweet Fern, snuggle in tight,
Here at North Star Gems for one final night.
