Not every amazing dog gets chosen right away… and these 3 dogs have been facing that reality for too long.
They know the routine. The kennels. The waiting. Each day seems to blur into the next. Every day brings different staff, some days they get extra walks or extra treats or extra time in the play yard. Maybe some different toys in their kennels or a different path on their walking route. That’s the most variety they tend to get. Then, their day ends at 5:00 PM when the lights turn off and staff leave.
They’ve had rough journeys and they’re safe, and loved where they are. But we all know, and they know, that there are much better lives waiting for them on the other side of this. We are so grateful to be meaningful part in every one of their journeys, but the shelter is only supposed to be a short stop on the way. A reprieve before they can begin again.
They don’t know how long they’ve been here. They don’t understand why some dogs come and go so quickly. They just know no one has chosen them yet.
Bubba has been here for 7 months.
Jane has been waiting for 6 months.
And Frankie, while newer at 2 months, is an older soul who deserves to spend his golden years in a home, not a kennel.
Bubba – male, 2.5 years old, Pit Bull
Bubba is energetic, playful, and always ready to go! This boy wants to move, explore, and have fun. He was abandoned in a park, severely underweight and missing fur from a bad flea infestation. Now he’s healthy, happy, and making up for lost time. Bubba needs an active home that will give him structure, exercise, and lots of playtime. He’s got a huge heart and SO much love to give. Bubba is good with other dogs if he isn’t intimidated by them and they can match his play style/energy. We believe he’d do best in a house without cats because he would probably want to chase or play with them and most cats do not prefer that 😅 A home without kids, or at least older children would be ideal because he likes his boundaries.
Frankie - male, 8 years old, pit bull mix
Poor Frankie was released by his owner, left to fend for himself when he was no longer wanted. He came to us with a bad flea infestation which resulted in a serious skin infection. After medication, baths, and other TLC, Frankie is finally looking for a new home, one that will actually want to have him there to love and cherish. Frankie does not seem to be a fan of most other dogs- however he may be able to get along with dogs close to his size after careful introductions. We are unsure about cats or children. He is very very gentle though!
Jane – female, 4.5 years old, Pit Bull/Shar Pei Mix
Jane came to us needing emergency surgery for a severe uterine infection. She was a real trooper! She’s feeling so much better now and is ready to enjoy the fun, carefree life she deserves, preferably with lots of toys! Jane has been reactive to certain dogs in the kennel but doesn’t always mind them outdoors so she may be okay with certain dogs if introduced properly and slowly. She seems to prefer dogs that are very close to her own size. We don’t know how she is with cats but she’s very playful so she would likely just want to chase them and that would not be ideal for most cats. A house with no kids or only older kids would likely be best. She can get overwhelmed quickly so she needs an active home, but one that also knows her boundaries.
Each dog has a unique story and unique needs, but they all share a common goal of leaving the shelter to start the next chapter of their lives where they’re meant to be. 💕
Please, if you can’t adopt, share this post! Their person might just be one share away, and you could be the difference in them finding that!
