🌷 Easter Weekend Safety Tips You Might Not Expect 🐾
Even seasoned dog parents can overlook a few sneaky holiday hazards. As we head into Easter, here are four lesser‑known things to keep in mind:
🐰 1. “New toy smell” excitement
Many Easter‑themed dog toys use stronger dyes or scents than everyday toys. Some dogs get overstimulated and chew harder than usual, which can lead to torn fabric or swallowed stuffing.
🥚 2. Egg‑dye cups and leftover dye water
Those colorful cups are basically open invitations for curious noses. The dyes aren’t usually toxic, but the vinegar and concentrated color can cause stomach upset if licked or spilled.
🌼 3. Surprise food drops during cooking
Holiday baking means mixers, counters, and pans full of ingredients dogs rarely encounter—like nutmeg, raisins, or xylitol sweeteners. A quick floor sweep before letting dogs back in the kitchen goes a long way.
🌸 4. Overlooked outdoor hazards
If you’re sprucing up the yard for guests, remember that fertilizers, fresh mulch, and even newly planted bulbs can be tempting to dig up or taste. Keep dogs supervised until everything is settled.
From all of us at Sitton Mill Kennels, we hope you and your pups enjoy a safe, calm, and happy Easter weekend.
