Huge congratulations to Matt on being crowned STATE CHAMPION 🏆 and Mason on earning STATE RUNNER-UP!

Matt and Mason chose GR Farrier Service a few years ago, and we are incredibly thankful for the continued trust they’ve placed in us with their horses. It’s rewarding to see the hard work pay off and to play a small part in keeping these horses sound, comfortable, and performing at their best.

Nothing makes us prouder than seeing our clients go out there, compete at a high level, and bring home the hardware!

Congratulations again to State Champion Matt and State Runner-Up Mason! Well deserved, guys!

We are deeply saddened by the news that Mr. Jim Bacon’s anvil fell silent this morning.

Jim was more than a fellow blacksmith and farrier—he was a mentor, an inspiration, and someone who had a tremendous impact on my farrier career. I will always cherish the times he took the time to critique my work, pull it apart, and teach me how to be better. He never hesitated to share his knowledge or offer a helping hand, and I’m a better farrier because of it.

Some of my favorite memories are sitting on his front porch, talking about horseshoeing and listening to the countless stories from his career. Those conversations were worth more than any lesson a book could ever teach.

The farrier community has lost a true craftsman, horseman, and friend. Thank you, Mr. Jim, for everything you shared and for the legacy you’ve left behind. Your knowledge, kindness, and passion for the trade will never be forgotten.

Rest easy, Mr. Jim. Your anvil may be silent, but your influence will continue to ring through every farrier you took the time to teach.

Schedule Update

To all of my clients:

I wanted to give everyone a heads-up that I’ll be out of town on business with Little River Outfitter during the last two weeks of July. Because of that, I will not be scheduling any farrier appointments during that time.

If your horse is due for a trim or reset, please contact me as soon as possible to get on the schedule next week, or plan for an appointment during the first week of August.

Thank you all for your continued support, patience, and understanding. I truly appreciate your business and look forward to taking care of everyone before I leave and as soon as I get back.

Call or text 573-922-9150 to schedule your appointment.

Soundness starts from the ground up. Every horse is unique, and proper hoof balance is essential for long-term comfort, performance, and longevity. Taking the time to trim and shoe each horse correctly helps keep them moving their best—whether they’re in the arena, on the trail, or at work. That is why we always preach “Quality over Quantity.”

A bit late in posting, but last week we had the opportunity to attend the American Farrier Association Convention. It was a valuable experience where I was able to build meaningful connections with fellow farriers. I attended numerous lectures and demonstrations aimed at enhancing my knowledge and skills, which will enable me to better serve my clients.
