Just brought a pig home? Start here.

Most pigs coming home right now are 30-50 pounds and ready to transition off baby pig feed.

Here's how we handle them:
🐷 Our standard: 18 QuickStart. Palatable, enough fat that they won't skinny up on you, and a great transition feed for just about any pig.
🚛 Sale pig that's been hauled a long way? 20 Max. It's built to support muscle and body mass while they're still growing frame. If your pig has been around a lot of other pigs and you're worried about health coming out of the haul, 20 Max MD is the medicated option.
💪 Came home thick and needs to slow down? 16 Developer. Don't drop them to a 10% feed. They still need protein to build bone and muscle.
🚰 Then get them drinking. LifeSaver or Pink Drink helps increase water intake. And don't skip deworming: Primo Dewormer, 7-10 days
after they settle in, three days in a row. Follow the table on the back of the pouch.

Stockman’s Tips

“Ringworm Treatments”

Last time I discussed prevention, but even the most diligent stockman will have flare ups and escapes that need to be treated.

My favorite topical spot treatments for ringworm in sheep and goats:
1. Tek-Trol Aerosol Disinfectant
2. Lotrimin Aerosol , athletes foot treatment
3. Ring Out - Spray Concentrate
(On all of these, spray directly on the lesion. Peel and scrape in 5 days, then re-apply.)
4. Topical Fungicide by Ideal or Durvet. Pink liquid. (Use specifically on powdery fungus on the face and ears. Treat 3 days in a row. No Scraping needed.)
