Happy World Rabies Day!

Don't forget to schedule your pet's vaccine!

Did you know all mammals are capable of being infected with and transmitting rabies? Even cute cuddly ones like kittens! In recent years, cats have become the most common domestic animal infected with rabies because many cat owners do not vaccinate their cats, and cats can be exposed to rabid wildlife, either outdoors or when bats get into the house.

Here are 6️⃣ ways you can prevent this disease and protect yourself and your animals. Visit avma.org/Rabies to learn more.

Get your fall tattoos!

This lady feline did, maybe some time other than the fall, but part of her identification after her sterilization surgery was this green tattoo! Which is great because she came to us today as a stray with no history or microchip and her finders wanted to do the right thing.

This tattoo meant she did not need to have any unnecessary surgery; she is already altered.

LCEVS places a green tattoo after sterilization surgery on ALL patients (feline, canine, male, female, owned or stray) - we don't want them to go under the knife more than once!

World Rabies Awareness Day is Sept 28th.
- we are going to celebrate, read below ::

Rabies is 100% preventable and the vaccine helps us to prevent.

Humans and animals can contract and die from Rabies - that's enough of a reason to be sure your dog or cat is up to date on vaccination and stays up to date throughout life.

Not only is the vaccine a legal requirement in the state of Pennsylvania it is a real threat to your pet.
Current numbers from the PA Dept of Ag: 296 lab confirmed cases of animals in PA with Rabies in 2026!
40 of those are cats!
Racoons - 104!
Bats - 75!

LCEVS, in just 9 months of being open full time, has assisted clients with:
-- 2 pets having bites with potential rabies exposure to go through post exposure protocols
-- 2 households with bats indoors and cats having been exposed (the humans did their own post exposure vaccines!)
-- 3 post bite quarantines with dog law involved

Let's do our part!
- We include the Rabies vaccine in every surgery package price!
- Rabies vaccines appointments through the rest of the month are discounted 25% !
-- Mention World Rabies Day when scheduling to ensure discount!

*Edit - update!*
Guessing closed as we reached two winners that were correct first! Their guess was 'liked' and messaged separately

Reminder :) LCEVS sees dogs and cats only - while our doctor has in the past treated bovine and equine patients and that would up our highest patient weight :) - the largest patient seen at LCEVS was a male Mastiff at 146/147lbs - he was in for neuter surgery.

LCEVS' smallest patient was a female community cat, that weighed in at 1.0lbs

THANKS FOR THE FUN!!

Make your best guess!

The first person to be correct, or the closest in the timeframe, can be eligible for future discount services. Will discuss specifics with winner!

What is the smallest and the biggest patient LCEVS has seen to date?

Guessing open until 9.9.26 at 5:00pm EST.

Hold the phone. Wait where IS our phone?🤳🐈🐕

Our clinic is unique - we do not have a full-time client services representative - our focus is the animals during their surgery and care. This means we do not have an in-coming phone number for you to use.

E-MAIL is the best and primary way to get ahold of us - it helps track the appointment information for you, and us, to refer to and we can respond to you in micro moments between patients or during after clinic hours.

We also try to stay as paperless as possible - meaning all of your records get e-mailed to you immediately after the appointment, and reminders are via e-mail as well. Consents are signed digitally. This is not only great to save on paper and storage space but allows us again to make our flow extra efficient to stay focused on our main mission - excellent quality surgery and patient care.

Don't dial us up, push send on that e-mail, and we will get you set !
