There has been information in the news lately about the use of Ivermectin as treatment for Covid-19. Since Ivermectin has been widely used in our area for control of animal parasites, many people are in possession of these products. I wanted to provide some information that was shared with me by the North Dakota State Veterinarian's office in case anyone has been considering using it as a preventative measure or as "self treatment". PLEASE let your health care professionals make the decision as to whether or not this is an appropriate treatment.

Q: Is there any danger to humans taking ivermectin?

A: At this time, there are no FDA-approved drug products to treat COVID-19. The FDA is working with sponsors to expedite the development and availability of COVID-19 treatments.

Some of the side-effects that may be associated with ivermectin include skin rash, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, facial or limb swelling, neurologic adverse events (dizziness, seizures, confusion), sudden drop in blood pressure, severe skin rash potentially requiring hospitalization and liver injury (hepatitis). Laboratory test abnormalities include decrease in white cell count and elevated liver tests. Any use of ivermectin for the prevention or treatment of COVID-19 should be avoided as its benefits and safety for these purposes have not been established. Data from clinical trials are necessary for us to determine whether ivermectin is safe and effective in treating or preventing COVID-19.

Beginning on Monday, March 30th, business will continue, but our door will be locked.
If you are needing supplies or medications, please give me a call or send me an email ([email protected]) letting me know what you need and when you hope to pick it up. Give me a call when you arrive and I will place your items outside the door for you.
If you have an appointment, please give me a call when you arrive and I will let you in. We ask that only 1 person accompany the animal into the building. If you are sick PLEASE STAY HOME. Find someone else to bring the animal in or reschedule your appointment.
Please bear with us at this time as we are trying to maintain the health of all involved.
More changes my be in the future, but we are trying our hardest to continue to be there for all of you during this time.
