My biggest pet peeve is being breathed on during dinner. So I enforce Down Stays for Brigid and Ru while we eat to enforce calm, polite manners at the table and around food. This is critical not only for having a happy home but also a service dog capable of going into restaurants. I expect both to hold their downs despite distractions and without a steady supply of treats (that's what previous training and loading is for). With enough time this will become a default behavior. Slow is fast!

We love a full house of happy dogs! Pictured from front to back: Mac, Pouncer, Brigid, Ru, Bugg, Sparky.
Fun fact: Pouncer is a retired hunting dog belonging to my dad, now owned by my little sister. He got his name because, as a puppy, he would pounce at anyone who came over! He's a good family dog 🥰
